Sure stock for stock a 08 vett is faster...its more updated than a 99 camaro but buy a camaro and put the same amount in building the motor as it would cost to buy a stock vett then run them...a stock camaro may cost 10k for a good car...a vett goes for around 65ish
This video is very believable 4.10 gears make a night and day difference in a race along with boltons easy to believe the camaro would pull away. the highest gears that came factory in the z28 were 3.42s so thats a huge difference. hp wise both are cars are near equal. just the camaro is tuned and has gears. z06 would be a different story.

Realistically an ls1 is a inexpensive motor that is light and has a simple push rod design that can be made fast easily
The 05, if it had the auto was a 4L65 4 speed auto. try that with a 06+ with the 6 speed auto or manual. then step up to the 08 LS3 that run low 12s @ 117+ auto or stick. With a cam and bolt-ons, there are 08+ running 10s. The 4L65 can be built to run 9s though. Many are in 9 second ZO6s. The 6 speed auto upgrades are just coming out.

The 2005 C6 auto's are four speeds.2006 and on the autos are 6 speeds...On average, there's a good .3 difference between the two on ET's....4.10's will help in the lower gears, but by third, the advantage is nullified...I have a 2006 C6 auto and I pulled 1/2-1 car length on a third gear roll...

I'd like to give you an answer if I could understand what the hell you asked, lol. I think you were asking if the 1998 to 2000 Camaros are the best and the answer to that is...sorta. The LS1 motor is one of the best GM performance motors out there in terms of performance versus reliability. The motor can kick ass and still be driven on a regular basis. I say "sorta" because they didn't stop making the Camaro in 2000, it was 2002.
its really good, aftermarket parts are endless and the reliability is awesome, best engine for the money. The 2001 to 2002 came with a ls6 intake manifold, more compression and a z06 clutch, so they had more power and are quicker than the 98 to 2000 camaros.
yes and no, it depends on what you want, and depends on if your going to keep it somewhat stock or modify it. If your planning on keeping it stock with simple bolt ons, then go with the 01-02s cause they have more power. If your planning on putting heads, cam, intake and stuff like that, then it doesnt matter the year, cause your replacing everything anyway.
Your making it sound like the 01+ LS1 fbodies would blow the doors off of 98-00 fbodies. They are pretty much all the same. Yeah, they have LS6 intakes, but my 98 WS6 has 26 lb injectors vs the 24lb injectors from the 01-02's and I have a slightly bigger and more aggressive cam than 01-02's. Either way, all LS1 fbodies dyno within 5hp of each other.

3.73 is a great compromise between top end and acceleration. How modified is your car? If you dont already have gears and you'e asking about them I'm going to assume that its not very modified. That being said, you would feel a bigger difference from the 4.10's until you made enough power to really take advantage of the 3.73's.

LS1, WS6, T/A is what I have too, Install a tornado in the ram air, it helps, NO JOKE!!, I just beat 2 C6s on the highway...from the entrance I followed them and the saw me, so they flored it and took me 5 seconds to pass
YES, for the most part, it was called a tornado a few years ago. When I got it, there were none for the T/A so I got one from another car that fit...it's easy to get and install, your acceleration will improve and mpg, when you let off the gas you don't decelerate as quickly and it shoves more ram down T/As throat for a maintained boost/ if you have an automatic, it may be harder to stop

your right though, they didn't come out with the Z06 in 2005. And if you guys didn't know, the C5 vette actualy pushes less power due to the transmition mounted in the rear. Its the same with the C6's. So I can see why a Camero would take it with a few minor mods done.
Several things here. Vette driver either probably doesn't know how to drive or he's babying the Vette as it's totally worth more and he probably just bought the thing. Camaro looks to be cheating alittle bit and I highly suspect that the camaro has a tone of mods done to the motor or that the camaro is paying the Vette to toss out a real race. Or that the video is lying about mods to try and make the camaro look better which it could never do against a Vette.

That particular Camaro is known as the factory freak around here. It seriously only has the mods listed. The MAC headers (not long tube), X-pipe, gears, and tuning. Don't forget the C6 is auto tranny.
A C6 Z06 would be impossible for a Z28 with mild bolt-ons. The Camaro is getting nitrous soon and the Vett is getting blown, so maybe I'll have another video up soon.

Adding 4.10 gears in a stock c6 is like adding 100 hp. Since my 4.10 mod on my c6, I can honestly say it's the best mod for dollars spent..I have raced many stock c6's, and beat them by 4 lenghts to 90mph/100mph repeatadly. my c6 is just sick out of the hole, with BF GOODRICH kdw 2's.. I also raced an amg 55 merc,(supercharged v8, 496 hp/516tq) and beat him to 120 by 4 lenghts..true story..raced him 2 times from the dig..
the sl65 also does weighs 4500lbs. my car weighs with me 3350. For every 100lbs disadvantage that's a .1 tenths on the 1/4 mile, which equals to one car
lenght. At the time I raced the merc AMG, I only had the 3.42 gears, and was still ahead 4 lengths to 120. My only mods were the full exhaust and ram air. With the addition of 4.10's and tune, the results should be interesting, if I meet an SL-65.

No, the LS1 is actually about 350hp stock but chevy claims 305hp - 310hp. The camaro is closer to 380hp - 400hp. But I agree, a better driver on the vette would of probably made it closer.

3.73 is a great compromise between top end and acceleration. How modified is your car? If you dont already have gears and you'e asking about them I'm going to assume that its not very modified. That being said, you would feel a bigger difference from the 4.10's until you made enough power to really take advantage of the 3.73's.

Yes slightly modded and beating a stock Corvette is nothing to brag about. The average driver will pull off mid to high 12's on a bone stock C6. And no the car doesn't have 4.10 gears, I just like putting it in the video and discussing it in the comments for the hell of it.

My LS1 T/A is slightly moded (13.5 seconds 1/4 mile) and there is no way I will beat a C6 Corvette or no way is't going to run 12's like your car or that Corvette, so there is something that I am not understanding here

What do you mean by "slightly modded?" And what kind of 60' are you pulling because that can be a major determining factor in 1/4 mile time. This Camaro was pulling 1.8's on Z-rated street tires.

YES, for the most part, it was called a tornado a few years ago. When I got it, there were none for the T/A so I got one from another car that fit...it's easy to get and install, your acceleration will improve and mpg, when you let off the gas you don't decelerate as quickly and it shoves more ram down T/As throat for a maintained boost/ if you have an automatic, it may be harder to stop

your right though, they didn't come out with the Z06 in 2005. And if you guys didn't know, the C5 vette actualy pushes less power due to the transmition mounted in the rear. Its the same with the C6's. So I can see why a Camero would take it with a few minor mods done.

Several things here. Vette driver either probably doesn't know how to drive or he's babying the Vette as it's totally worth more and he probably just bought the thing. Camaro looks to be cheating alittle bit and I highly suspect that the camaro has a tone of mods done to the motor or that the camaro is paying the Vette to toss out a real race. Or that the video is lying about mods to try and make the camaro look better which it could never do against a Vette.

That particular Camaro is known as the factory freak around here. It seriously only has the mods listed. The MAC headers (not long tube), X-pipe, gears, and tuning. Don't forget the C6 is auto tranny.

A C6 Z06 would be impossible for a Z28 with mild bolt-ons. The Camaro is getting nitrous soon and the Vett is getting blown, so maybe I'll have another video up soon.

wow makes me sad for ppl who think they know what they are talking about, this is NOT a Z06 (505hp 7.0L which would shit on the Z28, send of all Z06 does NOT come in stick)it is a bone stock c6 with 400hp and 400tq 6.0L up against a modded 5.7L with 4.10 gears, C6 being stock put a good fight...

actually, Z06's ONLY come in 6-spd. and it looks like a Z06 sine it has a badge on the front quarter panel, regular C6's have nothing.

Adding 4.10 gears in a stock c6 is like adding 100 hp. Since my 4.10 mod on my c6, I can honestly say it's the best mod for dollars spent..I have raced many stock c6's, and beat them by 4 lenghts to 90mph/100mph repeatadly. my c6 is just sick out of the hole, with BF GOODRICH kdw 2's.. I also raced an amg 55 merc,(supercharged v8, 496 hp/516tq) and beat him to 120 by 4 lenghts..true story..raced him 2 times from the dig..

the sl65 also does weighs 4500lbs. my car weighs with me 3350. For every 100lbs disadvantage that's a .1 tenths on the 1/4 mile, which equals to one car
lenght. At the time I raced the merc AMG, I only had the 3.42 gears, and was still ahead 4 lengths to 120. My only mods were the full exhaust and ram air. With the addition of 4.10's and tune, the results should be interesting, if I meet an SL-65.

I don't think it's the driver from a roll especially at 50 it doesn't take much skill. With an agressive tune and the mods listed I could see 360-370ish. I've heard gears to alot, I guess 4.10's do more than what I would have expected.

No, the LS1 is actually about 350hp stock but chevy claims 305hp - 310hp. The camaro is closer to 380hp - 400hp. But I agree, a better driver on the vette would of probably made it closer.
