Merry Christmas John! Give Frank a warm shout out likewise.
These folks couldn't have timed it any worse.
The true character and darkened hearts of the Corporate pawns shine in a wickedly devious way,as the vast majority of DHL, ABX,and Astar employees will be out on the streets just in time for Christmas.
Unbelievable that they couldn't wait until after the season.
One day, they will reap what they have so recklessly and destructively sown;if not in this life; certainly the next.
Before DHL purchased Airbore Express it was a no-frills piss poor courier company. It was a company which LOST MONEY. DHL should have known better than to hire a bunch of lazy, unionized, underperforming workforce. Too bad DHL takes the heat for ABX sucking so much.
What an idiot you are. Had you done your homework before your comment, you would've known that Airborne Express was one of the only airports that didn't file for bankrupcy after 9/11. Also Airborne Express/ABX Air isn't, nor would it ever be union. Granted, ABX Air isn't a giant like DHL, but it did well and never had to close hubs due to mismanagement (unlike DHL), and the employees were happy. Had DHL treated their employees, and customers with respect, this would not be happening. DHL SUCKS!!
DHL is the #1 Logistics Company in the world. Just take a trip Europe, Africa, Asia or Latin America and see for yourself. If DHL was allowed to fly its' own fleet of airplanes within the continental USA both FedEX and UPS would be TOAST. ABX did lose money! I'm sorry but DHL is an elite organization and takes a really poor company to bring it down.
jaainem was right you are an idiot and what you say have no basis to stand on. for 1 thing ABX Air did well on its own considering its size and what may have took ABX about 35 years to build took DHL 3 to destroy thanks to there poor business management and the fact that they try to come into the u.s during a bad economy. and number 1? usps is the worlds biggest shipper followed by ups thats why DHL is signing a deal with UPS to move their fright. fact, ABX did great before DHL drove it under...
Airborne Express was in no way a # 3 company and didn't come close to FedEx or UPS, the company was losing money year after year why else did you think they sold
They may be #1 in Europe, as you say, but due to micromanagement, poor people skills, and lack of airplanes (ha,)they tanked in the U.S.A. Once again, you haven't studied on this. When DHL bought out the Airpark in Wilmington, Ohio, They brought in their employees to sort thier freight. So technically; they brought themselves down. ABX sorted what accounts they have/had and didn't lose any for 15 years. DHL has lost 5 accounts in 4 months. DHl sorts there own freight.ABX doesn't touch their stuff.
That isn't the case at all, and sorry to tell you but the real reason is DHL went and laid off all of their original in house employees and decided they could just use the airborne express contractors to do all the work, all while having no direct say in who the hire and when they can or should fire. Also less than 5% of Airborne was Union, which sorry to say had the best overall performance. I can tell you how bad they mismanaged everything.
read my comment again. where did i say airborne was a #3 company? and the reason they made the deal with dhl is because of, you guessed it, making money! dhl is owned by Deutsche Post and they are making the decisions. at the time all airborne had to do is collect money from dhl to handle their frieght and fly it and not worry about overhead from keeping up on buildings and ground equipment and so on. can you tell me how bad Deutsche Post mismanaged dhl? unfortunately abx execs made a bad deal.
DHL was never a piss poor company and even today they still have an 87% international Market share in packages. less than 5% were union stations which sorry to tell you had the best numbers leaps and bounds above and station that has oh 3 or 4 subcontract companies who treat employees like cattle and could care less how that employee treats the packages, the Vans, and exspecially the customers
Airborne and letting the Germans buy you is what screwed you up. Not to mention the Einstein who picked that piss yellow color. Go back to the company you were in the early 80s. U were much smaller but you made money. Someone told me once that was the idea of being in business. Fuck the teamsters too.
John Mullen, if you were involved with the merger of DHL and Errborne Express, you should step down immediately. The level of incompetence in the merger and general running of DHL's business is a disgrace and your employees and your contractors employees are hurting because of the idiocy of upper management.
Dhl is the best company in logistics!!! Best regards from SLOVAKIA.
