my aunt told me my mom loved this song ,just heard it a week ago momma died in 1987 she died young this song gives me chills thinking mom use to listen to this knowing she was goin to die with cancer ,and not getting to see me and my brother grow up.
ahhhhh!!!! Country Music with feeling..How can we ever forgive the likes of Garth Brooks and Toby whatshisname for what they've done to good old country music
I'm only 19, but I love this song because it helps me realize that I have only one life to live and that it will not last long in the greater scope of time. I hope that the Good Lord allows me to live a full life, even if not a long one, where I can enjoy time with those I love, work hard to fulfill my goals and make a difference, even if it is a very small one, on this world.
My dad loved this song, and well my baby sister got married, and one week later we lost dad. He got to walk her down to the preacher to give her away and he got his wish.... He was only 48 years old... but every time I hear this song I cry my eyes out... I miss him so he has been gone for 22 years and it still fills like yesterday..... but then 2 years ago we lost our mom.. and they both pass away in june... It hurts so bad.. I love you both dearly and miss you too......
MY favorite song, reminds me of back in the day listening to Mikisew morning getting ready for school around 8 or 7 yrs old...man, the years fly by...but you nevr forget good music that brought good memories <3
When I was in 10th Grade, I left school to go work for the town, after work I would go to the coffee shop and have coffee with my cousin and an older gentleman name of Howard, his wife, the wife of a family friend, and another gentleman. Howard would share his stories of being a lumberjack and the way the town used to be, eventually, the shop shut down and I found out that Howard passed on...It was sad news, R.I.P Howard, I'll see you at the corner table up in Heaven some day, I'm buying.
Long story short, I can really feel that 2nd verse. Howard, Mr. Fagery, Mister Oddesson, all great people and great friends...They're teardrops in my eyes.
The version of this song I remember hearing was Gene Watson's, but Moe Bandy does a good version of this song, too ---he could give Gene a run for his money!
I haven't heard this song in years. It makes me think of my uncle, who died suddenly of a massive heart attack when he was 39. He had adopted two little girls a year before. He was a great guy, and I wish his years had not run out so soon.
this song remindz me back in tha day chillin wit the popz he alwayz listened to this song itz awesome one of my favorite counttry...the hell wit the haterz who hate this there mad cause they cant make something this good :)
I love this song because of the words/sentiment, the music that you can sing along with, and even the thought that if you played it at your funeral people would agree it tells the important things in life - to sum up a lifetime. I listen to this whenever I feel blue and to me it's so reassuring.
I listened to this song on the way to my friends funeral. It comforted me. Probably one of the best songs ever written. Makes you realize that we don't have forever.
This is so what country music is about. Don't you just miss those good ol' days when you listened to a country music song like this and you get that wholesome feeling. This kind of country music is what puts a smile to your face. I mean I like some of the new stuff but it's more like pop than country though. This right here is when country music actually told a story or had some true meaning to it. Anyways, yall have a blessed day.
@TheJuneCleavers777 The song was NOT writen by Moe Bandy, but quite a few artists have taken the song and adapted it to their playing style. I dont know who wrote it, but it was a woman singer, i forgot the name. Its still a great song none the less, no matter who wrote it.
I have been very blessed to reach the ripe ol' age of 60. This has especially been true over the past two years. I thank the good Lord for letting me reach my goal. Listen to the words.
Yes -this is great stuff!!! New popified country 'CW-musicians' should listen to this -and to Waylon! And Gary Stewart, and George Jones, and Merl Haggard...and, and...! Hoss ;-)
I love this song and thanks also for the pictures, somehow I missed this great singer and song in my younger days...and I'll never die you, thank God for a good life.
This is a great song, written by Kevin Welch and a couple of other guys. Kevin does an even better version of it in his shows. A new band called the Trishas, an all female group which includes Kevin's daughter, does a killer version of it. There are at least 2 YouTube videos of them doing it, including one on Music Fog, and one at the Mucky Duck in Houston, where I saw them recently. They are coming back there on May 22, for what should be another great show. Kevin is at the Duck on May 13.
If you like this then you owe it to yourself to get directv and watch RDF. at 7pm central on fridays is country family reunion . we sing the songs that made us great . we also talk about the songs .
@pablum51 I agree with your comment... I BELIEVE therefore this music will be the direction for all to follow, if that makes any sense... The Real and Natural WILL be the way of whats to come, I know it!!!

This is one of the very best songs ever.
It pretty much sums up life in general.
This song was written and performed for the love of music, rather than a get-rich-quick scheme, like most so-called music is these days.
It's a real loss that music of this quality isn't as common these days.
Truly, this song is from the 'Golden Era' of music.
