  • that is a nice siren, who owns it? and how much does a classic like this cost?

  • Wish I had one of these. I might be getting close to owning a Model 2, but those little buggers don't compare with this monster!

  • I like the power supply

  • These things can give people heart attacks!

  • @Daddybopper so can your mom's face.

  • @Polybun You talk alot of shit for a little fag on the internet! Grow up queer boy!

  • @Daddybopper this queer got your mom. what?

  • when you were this siren you can just kiss your ass goodbye

  • your neighbors must love you lol

  • wow you forgot to hook up the lawnmower an weed eater to that siren bubba but it still worked out good , and i liked it! forgive me, i realize that was probably a temp hook up ! im jealous!!

  • oh I sure hope you guys are out there, watching the clock, ready to make another great vid in some unsuspecting town....

  • ROFL SODEMO2007

  • I have an obsession with the sound, its like a chill that run through me, but they it's followed by complete and utter relaxation. Generally when I hear those go off, (lives in tornado country) the pure fury of nature is heading my way, so for some reason, it's comforting.

  • @Jgardner2122 LOL I find the sound to be extremely calming (I guess I am just fucked up in the head that way), though I do feel better knowing I am not the only one XD

  • god that thing is loud as shit

  • question is how far away wsa it heard lol

  • They still use one of these in the town I live in, goes off at noon every day except sunday.

  • our volunteer fire department has one to call them in.....

  • that was great! wish I lived close by to you guys...what year was that siren built?

  • @minkyblack Not too sure, perhaps in the early to mid 1950's as the motor just has the appearance of old 50's styling. Let me find out.

  • @mrksvideos ok thanks...there is one of these located on reseda and lassen in the san fernando valley...

  • SOUNDS LIKE A MODEL 7T

  • they need a eddie murphy laugh version

  • Does anyone know any B-52 pilots? A low pass would be a nice addition :-)

  • how did you get the generater?

  • Awesome!

  • I once was spending the night at my freinds when a similar siren went off...I thought the F___ing A bombs were droping. my friend woke me up frum under his desk. I totaly ducked, and covered

  • I wish I was HIS neighbor~!!

  • please don't ever remove this vid lol. It's the first I ever watched!

  • Awesome! I live in the San Fernando Valley which is were I assume this took place but unfortunately probably wasn't around to hear it! I live in Northridge and it looks like you were near the Chatsworth area.

  • @o2thx -- The siren was obtained from an LADWP surplus / salvage yard. The clip that shows the mountains and the high voltage circuit breaker in the background was shot in Sun Valley, CA. The rest of the video that was shot looking into the valley from a back yard and side yard was taken in the foothills of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, where the siren still lives today.

  • glad i dont live there, but that is pretty awesome

  • Our local fire department still uses one of these to alert deployment of firetrucks and tests it every Saturday at noon JB

  • get a video of it!! These are very rare!

  • They are all over the place. Not a very rare siren.

  • Nice to see that there are still some of these hanging aorund

  • Love how your power bill hit the power of ten lol

  • Whow, you had to use a motor to convert the power type to run another motor. Weirdly interesting. Can there be no solid-state 3-phase converters made, then, or...?

Even though... yeah, it's NYE/D at the time--so a little partying noise is expected--was this siren just SO loud that any of your neighbors still sent the cops over?

You only wound it up did it once on that night, huh, so the neighbors wouldn't really have a chance to complain, huh? Whow, the next year try winding it up twice!

  • oh my flipping god thats big but not loud enuth

  • umm i think the sever is corupted for i can't get any farther than half and i tdistorts video and the frezzes the video

  • Turn this on and run around the neighbourhood yelling about an air raid... you'll probably get booked for public mischief. :)

  • god dam i had headphones on!!!

  • Me too. MY EARS!

  • What's stupid about it?

  • thanks for the loud b-day present that year, thank god i dont live there >.>

  • put it in the road and put a remote control on it... lol car comes by.......

  • damn had to wait more than half of the video to hear it

  • thats what you use for birthdays

  • Your Neighbors Must Love You For Happy New Years.......What's Next "The Chrysler Hemi Air Raid And Don't Tell Me You're Going Use It For The Fourth Of July, Right........Have You Heard Of Quiet Riot Or Vice Versa......J.Joking Nine9eniN

  • So... it takes longer for the windup when it's on the phase converter.

  • those things scare the crap out of me...

  • Do U ever heard about electro shock protecting? Whats thoose damned wires all around in that fuckin box?

  • LoL at the night when everyone sleeps xD

  • Used to be one of the scariest sounds in the world.

  • still is! i think silent hill resurrected that

  • how would a game or a movie wich ever one it is do that lol

  • its both...and shit dude its just a scary ass sound

  • now thats a way to call new year :D

  • Theres tons of these things down here in the valley just rotting away... Probably havent been used in 25-30 years. They are just a memory sitting on top of small poles dotting the san fernando valley.

  • Fantastic, absolutely fantastic.

  • i would admire them, and up the ante! lol

  • When I served in the airforce they once lugged up a big ass air raid siren into our hall and let that fucker rip, people were pissing their pants and falling out of their beds left and right. We thought the fucking Russians had finally started attacking, those things are so fucking loud.

  • @SODEMO2007 I bet it was a Chrysler-Bell lol

  • My hometown has that siren as their fire siren. It may not be as loud as this one, but it looks the same and has the exact same tone.

  • probably just the distance away from the siren that makes it seem quieter.

  • OMG, in chicago in like 1939 or something they ran the sirens on holloween as a joke...and terror struck the city and it was so bad there was killings and stuff from the joke. I am pretty sure that theres federal laws now that prohibit any use of these except for the monthly 1st tuesday morning at 10am local time for 1 minute...thats when theres the monthly tests...you morrons. I am pretty sure you guys who did this could have gotten the cops over there and harrassed,

  • OMG

    OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMOGMG

  • Here, you can BARELY even hear the monthy tuesday 10am test.....funny though, I have cats and when they hear the air raid noise they (even though they are suppost to not understand anything) during the monthly tests they shit there pants and act like they know war is coming.

  • how do ppl kno when there is a real air rade

  • When they don't say, "This is a test," and say "This is real, get to a bomb shelter," or something like that.

  • Why am I the only one with thumbs down when no one even knows why I say it, morons, read before you say something.

  • i gave u a thumbs up and a LOL but it didnt put me under you

  • "Holy shit its new years day! - Thanks Siren Men!!" god!

  • how many volts /amps or wot ever does it need? and wot will it sound like with normal 110v

  • It takes 240 volts, three phase and a ton of current. Watch the lights when it fires up. It's connected to the air conditioner circuit and it still makes the voltage in the house drop.

  • wow now thats how a siren should sound.

  • glad it was saved

  • WOW i am now deaf in 1 ear

  • WHAT I CANT HEAR YOU!?!?! (lol)

  • haha from 2:40 to like 2:50 it sounds like a 'jake brake' on a truck lol.

  • This is pretty cool. I really like the ones that take forever to rev up with dual-tone. Awesomeness!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah this scared the shit out of me...

I didn't know that's what those things looked like, interesting. how does it work??

  • There's a metal thing inside called a chopper. It's basically a disc with small slots in it and fan blades inside. It spins inside a housing with small slots. The motor spins this chopper really fast, forcing pulses of air through the small slots, producing the painfully loud sound.

  • Makes me happy...Wait....IT WAS YOU! I was like 1 mile from it, woke up and DARTED FOR THE FUCKING BASEMENT!

  • Didnt the neighbors call the cops on you???

  • +1-ing that post. I would have :P

  • i used to see those around the LA area. I used to live near one on balboa blvd and roscoe blvd. Looks exactly the same. COOL!

  • Reminds me of my childhood. The last Friday of the month, exactly at 10am. Good time hiding under the church pews.

  • that noise scared me

  • I wonder how many old people who grew up during the war shit their pants....

  • How the fuck are you offended by that..?

  • You get offended from that?????

Lucky you are not here, I just farted & I am sure you would be offended by it.

Stop being a damned cry baby & enjoy the video & speaking of, I give this 5-stars.

  • How in the fucking hell are you offended by Mother Fucking wires sitting there? You need Fucking Mental Institutin. I actually like to see wires! :P

  • LOL!

  • @erroneous: That was a joke, right?

  • This kind of video makes u grin. great video.

  • hahahahahahahahahahaha cool

  • hahahahah id love to have one just to piss jy neighbors off lol

  • noone has asked so i will how much trouble did you get into

  • LAFD, lol...

  • sounds like an allertor

  • that's funny i was thinking the exact same thing

  • ya i thought 500T were single toned...0.0

  • Wow, the neighbors must love you.

  • somethings about these sirens gives me chills. anyone agree?

  • The thumbs up mean yes. I want one so bad, just to run it right at 12:00 on New Year's. That would be so sick.

  • Ya I completely agree. They are really scary. They remind me of old wars and shit or that theres ike a b-29 about to drop a nuke. B-29's are scary to...

  • disagree

  • @ConnorLug I have an obsession with them and that chill you're talking about. It's a weird fascination.

  • And I thought I was bad for sounding my train horn at New Year's......this takes the cake! I'll bet there were quite a few people that were tripping out when they heard that!

  • rofl, that power meter hahaha

  • those guy must have guts(or eardrums)to start up that siren without much ear protection

  • those things are scarry man

    i bet birds fear them

  • Fantastic!!

  • Creepy

  • i got a t-bolt 1003 and a 3t22

i will sound them on new years

  • when I was about 6 years old,the mid 60s to mid 70s a siren went off every wed at noon,

that siren scared me ,it was LOUD!!.now I am a electrician,I am suprized that your main breaker did not trip when the siren first started up if it is 100amp

  • I love the shot of your power meter

  • Nice One....but what a setup..

  • Man, Ive always wanted to do that!

  • YOU GUYS ARE MY HEROS! lol

  • Your neighbors must loooove you.

  • NEW YEAR'S EVE!

Who would call the police about such a novel stunt at midnight? (With WWV they even sounded it exactly on time, too!)

Everyonelse is making noise; fireworks, morons shooting guns, etc.

Congratulations on a stunt responsibly and well done!

How can my volunteer fire department acquire one of these for a tornado warning siren in Colorado?

    Thank you.

  • Sounds like it'd eat ya alive.

  • sounds just like an SD-10

  • and SD-10s sound like allertors

  • and they both sound like 5T's

  • and none of them sound anything like t-bolts! :D

  • ddangerous situation the wires a lose of the base get a lesson of the nen 3140 or vca

  • That thing has some power!

     - what's the acostic effect output?

  • Excellent! :)

HA HA HA. I'm finding one now.

  • Is the rotator for the head/horn broken or shut off?

  • I bet they shut it off.

  • Yes. There is a power-take-off from the motor. The rubber belt has been removed between motor and the rotator gearbox.

  • Did these guys get a ticket for disturbing the peace or any reports of a war veteran having a heart attack for this prank?

  • It sounds like the type of air raid sirens they used to test in Los Angeles the last Friday of every month at 10 am (during the Cold War). These tests used to scare the crap out of me sometimes (as in the missiles are on their from the USSR).

  • You are exactly correct! This siren once lived in the City of Los Angeles and was purchased in a City of Los Angeles salvage yard as scrap metal. I am one of those three guys standing in the first scene of this video. :)

  • Thanks for the info jm. Its interesting to note that a lot of the old sirens are still standing on poles throughout the Los Angeles to this day.

  • sound like a V10 F1 lol!!!

  • Lucky find! Those are rare sirens!

  • I'm sure your neighbors were happy...

  • You should pair that bad boy with a thunderbolt.

  • I love that siren.

  • Did you get that siren from the City of Los Angeles? Looks like the ones i've seen in pics, on some webpage about sirens around L.A.

  • so your the asses that did that, i had to get up for work the next mornin so i went to bed early and got woken up by your fuckin toy ...cool if i had it i probly would have done the same thing

  • did u tell ur nehbers u were doing this?

  • LOL.

  • wow that is hot great video

  • cool

  • hahaha, awesome! I wonder how many people called the police?

  • did you by any chance give the siren a new paint job?

  • No, it has the original paint. It does however sport new casters instead of the pallet for easier moving :)

  • Wow, I haven't seen this video in a long time. Thanks for posting it. Do you still have this siren?

  • It is still in the "family", yes.

  • XD Bad MrK! No scaring the public! No cookie for you!
