Alright, everyone that thinks this is sick need to rethink why they think it! The biggest reason why they do kill the seals is because there are not enough predators for the seals, they then grow to absurd numbers and kill off the population of fish. People kill the seals for food/population control.
Also, the reason why they mostly use bludgeons is because it would cost WAY too much to use a gun, and it kills them just as fast.
To say that they have a painless death is just Wrong. I once saw one of the little things beaten then (it was still moving and squealing) dragged onto the boat and skinned. They are horrible people. I don't care if it;s their job, they harm people aswell as the seals and are just disgusting people

To be honest, the government has bigger problems, like the welfare of its citizens, the economic recovery, and pulling the troops back from afghanistan. To spend millions of dollars to pay for the coast guard patrolling looking for poachers is, in most people's opinion, a waste of tax payer money and military skill. Yes its horrible, and your going to call me a heartless bastard, but there are more pressing matters, like poverty and a struggling healthcare system

-The ONLY reasons the Canadian government would allow this is for population control and for the jobs of those in the remote regions (this is a democratic nation where all people should be heard)
-The seals are actually still increasing in numbers, and fish population is further gaining disequilibrium (balance).
