I know what cartoons on WXON we're shown in January 1986. In the morning block 7-9am had Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget, Scooby-Doo, and Superfriends. The afternoon block 3-5pm had The Jetsons, Mask, He-Man, and another Scooby-Doo. Plus two classic shows Leave It To Beaver 9am and Green Acres 9:30am after the morning block.
Anyone remember on WXON-20 horror movies they showed on the weekends...the intro was actually a bit from Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" with weird and "scary" things floating in and out of the screen?
@drummerwes81 I do, it was every saturday afternoon starting at 2 and ending at 5. After that, The Six Million Dollar Man came on, then after that, The Greatest American Hero. I remember seeing my first horror movie on tv on WXON - TV 20. It was called "The Horror Express". It had Peter Cushing and Telly Savalas on it. Mostly all I can remember about it is that it had a train and a guy on there with dark hair, red glowing eyes, & if anyone looked @ him, their eyes would start to bleed.
Actually, The Ghoul was on Channels 50 and 20 before getting shunted off to the TV Siberia of 62. Do at least TRY to do some research before you post.
@PallyPowerXIX Anal-retentive much? As if-then statements go, mine stands. My research? Having watched him on channel 62. He was on 50 & 20 (as if 20 was something to boast)? Cheers. Your 'tact' was devoid of any.
The promo for the syndicated "Wonderful World of Disney" episode "Duck for Hire" was originally aired back in 1957 on the "Disneyland" TV show. It was later reran in color on Disney's "Wonderful World of Color" in the early 1960's.
This is great! Anyone out there have any old "Chiller Thriller" or "Creature Feature" bumpers or intros, etc. Specifically WXON TV 20 Detroit or WKBD TV 50 Detroit.
Growing up in Toledo, I never had the benefit of watching WXON on cable, and had to put up with watching it off an indoor antenna in my bedroom (whereas WKBD was the best I had of an indie station on cable).
There was a commercial on WXON back in the early-mid 80's, used to freak me out when I was a kid. There was a white skeleton skull on the screen with the WXON TV-20 Detroit caption on the bottom and behind it were colored lights dancing and rotating in the background. At the same time, it played 'real creepy music' with a voice-over describing a horror movie playing at whatever time.
what cartoons were shown in january 1987

You forgot to mention "Dennis The Menace" lol.

Dennis the Menace didn't start until September 1986. The tape I still had was from January 1986.

@halltrimm So you're saying I'm absolutely correct, and that you're absolutely wrong, but somehow that still makes you right?
Did your mommy drop you on your head when you were a baby?
PallyPowerXIX 1 month ago
@PallyPowerXIX Actually, no. Nothing I wrote intimates you as being remotely correct.

@drummerwes81 I remember watching horror movies on channel 20 with my sister. Seemed like they showed them every weekend!

Yes, the same Jack Kinney who worked for Disney. I believe Joe Siracusa was in Spike Jones' City Slickers band, too!

Jack Kinney directed this cartoon?!? That wouldn't be the same Jack Kinney that directed many of the Goofy cartoons at Disney, would it?

It's about Popeye looking for a gold mine in a desert, notice he's holding a map, Darryl.

What is the 1960 Popeye cartoon "Deserted Desert" about?
