I play waterpolo in Holland and this year the european championship was in Holland. My coach and a player of my team are from montenegro. I was watching the final against serbia, both great teams, but I think the serbian players had to be afraid! what an awesome anthem. I feel foolish with the hollandish anthem.

Kosovo and Metohija (Metohija specifically meaning land which is proprietary of the Church) is a holy territory upon which the fullness of Serbian civilisational consciousness was established, and which has endured for many centuries. Plus even now, UN resolution 1244 explicitly lists Kosovo as Serbian territory, so there is your answer.

I don't understand these ways of discussion. This 'animal' is almost equal to the Eagle of Byzantium. So it's not anything, it's Byzantine-Greek. But Montenegro had every right to use it, just like Serbia uses the double eagle because these countries are Orthodox and stand in the tradition of Byzantine Empire. So the eagle is NOT Serbian, Russian, Montenegrin or what, it's BYZANTINE and a symbol for all Orthodox people, since Byzantium gave Orthodox light to the balkans.

It's what many European princes and royal families did back in those days is all. And as I posted before; The Russians got the double-headed eagle from the Byzantines, who also controlled Montenegro for a long period. So really it kinda came full circle. :P
@DonVladinho The Dynasty that ruled Kievan Rus? As far as I know, they all had single-headed eagles. Every credible historian credits the Byzantines for introducing the use of the two headed eagle to European crests and flags. I've yet to read any historical source that says otherwise.

Je dois avouer que ce son est tout bonnement magistral à mes oreilles. De plus, la bannière de cette nation est magnifique.
Je n'ai qu'une question à poser: le drapeau affiche une couronne ainsi qu'un aigle bicéphale maintenant fermemant un sceptre entre ses griffes de la patte droite et un globe surmonté par une croix dans la patte gauche. Toutefois, n'est-ce pas là un symbole impérial ou royal, démontrant la puissance souveraine d'un dirigeant généralement détenteur d'une couronne ?

@UlricSir Républiques Beaucoup choisissent leurs symboles nationaux avec des éléments monarchiques, car elle reste la monarchie passé. Voir la Hongrie, Russie, Serbie, Croatie, Bulgarie et en Géorgie.

I don't understand these ways of discussion. This 'animal' is almost equal to the Eagle of Byzantium. So it's not anything, it's Byzantine-Greek. But Montenegro had every right to use it, just like Serbia uses the double eagle because these countries are Orthodox and stand in the tradition of Byzantine Empire. So the eagle is NOT Serbian, Russian, Montenegrin or what, it's BYZANTINE and a symbol for all Orthodox people, since Byzantium gave Orthodox light to the balkans.

@UndertakersDiscipleU You can use the same animal and not have it be imitation. but when you use a very similar animal AND design then it probably is. It's what many European princes and royal families did back in those days is all. That being said there are a few design variations; taking note of the crown in particular on the Montenegro eagle, it has one crown, whereas the Russian one as multiple crowns.

@UndertakersDiscipleU When the coat of arms were adopted I do believe the ruling family of Montenegro had close familial ties with Russia's royal family. And as I posted before; The Russians got the double-headed eagle from the Byzantines, who also controlled Montenegro for a long period. So really it kinda came full circle. :P

@DonVladinho The Dynasty that ruled Kievan Rus? As far as I know, they all had single-headed eagles. Every credible historian credits the Byzantines for introducing the use of the two headed eagle to European crests and flags. I've yet to read any historical source that says otherwise.
Also, Constant the Great lived from the 3rd to 4th century AD. He died over 500 years before them. :P So I dunno what you mean by that.
