  • Yeah, dang near impossible!!! I appreciate the way you teach this, but still impossible for me.. I'll favorite and just say 'frack this!' for now... I'm too frustrated..

  • is it normal for humans to breath this way? it seems impossible for me!

  • If your using your tongue to close off the reservoir then how do you articulate?

  • The back part of your tongue closes off the air. The front part of the tongue is still free to articulate.

  • @mrconradhoppe ME TOO!

  • how do you breath out through your mouth, as well as breathe in through your nose?

  • Can I do circular breathing on the Oboe? Oboe requires pressure from the stomach, so I think it would be hard to emulate that effect in your mouth.

  • Can people do it with the flute? I find it hard to multi-task breathing and blowing at the same time.

  • getting trouble in mastering step 4...there's always a gap in the air flow when i prepare to open the "throat pipe" again....

any tips on this issue? been stuck here for a while...

    btw, great video!

  • this is hard,...

  • Can you circular breathe while playing bamboo flute without distorting the sound?

  • i doubt it can stop your heart ..and this does help loads..i didn't have a reed so i just put the top of my finger in my mouth and went with the guidelines this worked perfect..kinda hard at first though, really hard to notice and concentrate.

  • It is no more stressful on the heart than playing an instrument in a regular manner.

  • @tewelltube

If anything, it is less so, because you aren't stressing your body by not breathing.

  • Isn't circular breathing dangerous too? Like, it can stop your heart if not done correctly or something.

  • makes perfect sense

  • men this is so hard : /

  • i can't understand how can i use the tongue to close it...

  • Place the upper back portion of the tongue at the roof of your mouth with a "K" or "G" consonant. Feel where the tongue touches. Leaving the tongue there closes off the airflow from the lungs. Terry

  • wtf is with the tongue rule thing

  • As a informative video on the mechanics of of circular breathing this is ok. However it is too complex as a tutorial. I used the practical videos of didgeridoo players to teach me in two days.

  • where are these videos in which you learnt in two days???? please tell

  • Youtube wont allow me to leave links. Why don't you go to the search function and type 'circular breathing?' The very first video.

  • I wanted to see flight of the bumblebee :-(

  • what do you mean when you say to drop the soft palate?

  • Your soft palate drops automatically when you breathe in through your nose. It should close when breathe out through the mouth (not the nose). Good luck with this!

  • thanks

  • it keeps triggering my gag reflex :S

  • very clear explanation! anyways it needs a looooooooooooooot of practise...

  • i'm confused whats the soft pallate and how do you drop it? please help me.

  • don't worry about the technical description of it. I don't exactly "drop" my soft palate. Don't think about whats going on in the back of your throat. Just practice blowing air on your hand using JUST your cheek muscles. Do that over and over. Keep your jaw still. THEN take a strong and fast breath in through your nose at the same time. Not as hard as you thought, huh?!. Gotta maintain your embouchure!

  • OMG!!! I learned how to do it seconds after watching this video!

  • Hello!I would love to learn circular breathing, i played for 7 years Euphonium and just bought a Didgeridoo that made me interested in circular breathing. so i kinda get to breath without stopping without a instrument at my mouth. but is it posible to do it other ways than this?like you "have" to close the air channel with your tonque or you can the breathing while all ways opened? think thats what i need to wortk on but i gotta ask..to close the tonque i dont 100 % get it while breathing.

  • royroy2k, i think that the how the tongue moves while circular breathing is like its "default movement" during this process. I mean that the tongue will ussualy do that during circular breathing, but with practice you can do it and your tongue will be doing something else. it's like swallowing while you're sticking out your tongue

  • How long did it take you successful breathers to accomplish this technique?

  • The basics of the technique I learned over a week or two. The mastery of the technique, however, takes much more time and in some instances I am still working on it. Terry

  • i can do this but when i do i don't take in much air can someone help!!!

  • That is right. When you breathe in you will not take in as much air as with the mouth. For this reason you will need to breathe more times.

  • Why don't you try to intake air before you run out of air in your lungs. That might work.

  • this dude makes circular breathing sound complicated, it's really not that hard!

  • Nice video, not. Maybe if you demonstrate the way to practice this instead of the machanics of it, it will be more helpful.

  • JazzFanBHS if you follow the link given at the end of the videos you can see additional videos in which I demontrate the application of circular breathing. Not all my videos are posted on this site.

  • Wow! Really sorry man, I feel like a Jackass. I apologise, thanks for informing me.

  • that made no sense at all

  • hey thanks!

for the first time I understood how this has to be done, so I'm gonna practice that for using it when playing the bagpipe practice chanter.

  • wow taht was cunfusing. i think i'll hold off on this fora little while
