as huge wolves fan since '96, its depressing thinking about what coulda happened if marbury was willing to stick around and if sam cassell didnt get hurt in the 04 wcf.
Thanks man. Soon I will upload a KG-Steph interview with NBC's Bob Costas, conducted the day before the Timberwolves played the Sonics in the deciding Game 5 of their 1998 First Round series.
That's the closest the T-Wolves ever gotten to make it past the first round before finally did it with the three-headed monster.
I think it was during that series (after the 1st win in Seattle I think) where KG made that comment about how Target Center is going to be noisy like a zoo and how they need the zookeeper to calm down the crowd.
Back in those days, every time KG spoke to the media, I cringed. I was like please don't say anything stupid. :-)
I remember that season very well. I had a season ticket. We beat the Bulls with Jordan on the team. That was the last season the three of them played together and Gugliotta was hurt (out for season) half way through the season and Marbury was traded the next season.
Sometimes I wonder what could have been in MN. I am just glad KG finally got his ring.
Good memory :) I really liked that season, it was just too bad the core fell apart after that year.
I will soon upload a KG-Steph interview with Bob Costas, conducted the day before Game 5 of the First Round against the Sonics. That's very nostalgic to me...
That was the only season I lived in Twin Cities. I missed the playoff as I moved to Sacramento a week before the end of the season. Only caught it on tv.
A lot of memory from that season. Still have a ticket stub signed by Tom Gugliotta and the beer glass given at the game.
I remember the season opener at home. It was against Spree's Warriors. He blew up like 40 pts but we still won the game. And the half time show was some boy band who years later I realized was Backstreet Boys. :-)
I just looked up the box score from that season opener (October 31, 1997) against the Warriors. Timberwolves won handily 129-113. Wow, Spree indeed dropped 45 points.
That was a game-winning alley-oop, from KG to Googs in overtime (January 16, 1998). I'm pretty sure it came at the buzzer, and there wasn't time to do anything else.

Lol they would've lost that game if he did that.
