I love the lady with the "brick" cell phone. and just so everyone knows, 914 Porches, by '80's law, were required to break down about every 40 feet! :-)
This should be dedicated to Polly Polaroid, Pieman, The Red Man, the Viking Helmet Woman, "Mister Soviet", and the other freakextreme local celebs of 80s San Francisco. Folks like that made the city worth living in!
KTVU should do a modern version of this commercial today. Maybe they can use some of the same people that were in this great commercial so we could see what they look like now
Gosh...So nostalgic. why didn't they have punk rockers in the SoMa or White trash meth heads in Hayweird or junkies on the streets of the Tenderloins?? I mean we want to catch the entire eccents of the bay area back then and not just Ethnic dancers :/
The first time I saw this commercial I was in 5th grade at Lafayette Elementary School in West Oakland. As a matter of fact I just got home to watch an old rerun of a cartoon called Challenge Of The Gobots then I did my homework and afterwards I went outside to play. I had an 8:PM curfew so I had to be indoors by then. Wow this commercial has triggered so many good memories!
Sigh! The good ole' days!

God bless you and that is so true and that would be so sweet! I'm originally from Oakland myself! This commercial came out when I was in 3rd grade!

I'll always remember the Channel 2 "Mornings on Two"...
"It's a beautiful morning, ooohhh!"
The song was "Beautiful Morning" by the 60's rock group, The Rascals.

People were working very hard in trying to get all of that stuff cleaned up. Many of the people you mentioned seemed unfriendly at the time.

God, I remember this. Especially the middle-aged guy with the teddy bear. And yes, it does make me feel ancient.

...okay, there's no middle-aged guy with a teddy bear. I guess memory really is the first thing to go.
