I play in this league, the use of gloves has nothing to do with protecting your hands, just due to how competitive this league is players like the fact that the oversized softball glove allow them to make one handed catches that their arms and/or hands would otherwise be too short to make. Gloves are optional in this league, but it's like who would be willing to put themselves at a disadvantage by not using one. If the leauge were to ban gloves I don't think many people would even mind

But you're playing it wrong. Gloves aren't optional in 16 inch softball. They're prohibited! That's the rules. Why not play 12 inch softball where gloves are allowed?

I softball...gloves are for women. I play 16" softball in 3 leagues and if any one on any team showed up with a glove they would be banned from the field. I even play in a co-ed league and the women don't use glves. If you are going to do a video on 16" softball WTTW at least do it right!!! Mike Royko is turning over in his grave right now
