  • Get off your asses Dallas. I live here and these people suck . It was the 80's....need some blow?

  • Great performance, though the xylophone seems to be a bit out of tune.

  • nagyon jo

  • I find it hard to understand how someone so successful can be so disliked. I think the guy is amazing.

  • One of the greatest artists of all time!!

Phil knows how to lay it down!

  • I really don't know if Phil will read this but i'm trying anyway. Even If you can't play aymore of an instrument. IOf you com in Quebec city for the summer fesrtival we will cure you for one night only and you will remember us for ever........

  • Amazing!!!

  • PHENOMENAL song

  • Love Chester throwin' it down on the old school electronic pads! This is still one of the cleanest, best sounding live versions out there. I guess it would have to be around 1985/86.

  • absolutely stunningly amazing, take me home!

  • Best Collins song ever.

  • super Awesome i love Phil Collins!

  • I dare say that this song is my all time favorite from phil ....

  • obsessed

  • About*

  • Honestly, i love this song so much!!!!!!!!!!!! What is it sbout though?!

  • @sunshine13BABY On his Unplugged special, I believe that he said it was about a guy in a mental institution, sort of based on "One flew over the cu-cu's nest."

  • This is by far my favorite live performance! A very hypnotic song with all the right ingredients.

Always takes me on a spiritual journey!

  • This is a better version this music, I'm wached this show in tv where have 15 years old.

  • some drummers don't show up, phil is the show.

  • This whole show is just the peak of performance. I truely prefer minimalist perspective. What collins does best is bring the human element out in variations, like rues from a palet, derived from a drum machine recording and some basic phrasing that is a basic robotic metronomic beginning. Listen to the "demos" and further compare the the album release of this song and this performance. It is Phil Collins' niche, aside from his awsomeness on the acoustic kit. Most artists just cannot compare.

  • I have lived my entire life with a pain that is numbing. We all do. There are not many of us that are deeply in touch with our souls so as to feel life ...I mean FEEL life !!

This song speaks to the very core , the foundation of a robotic world system that takes away our humanity. Phil knows who they are. We all know who they are. And when you hear this song you will be reduced to tears as you will know what you feel is your stolen soul. Someday we'll remember. Then we'll be home !!

  • Geiles LIED Gänsehaut

  • Fantastic version. :o)

  • oh dear me, i got goosebumps!

  • Grande versão ao vivo de Take me Home! Velhinha... Phil Collins ainda não era carecão.

  • @alansantosmg Eu assisti esse show quando eu tinha 15 anos, lembra?Foi na manchete se eu não me engano... Eu tinha o LP "No Jacket Required".

  • excellent record keep it up phil

  • I cant believe Phil Collins Started Genesis as the Drummer. With a Voice like his. Incredible.

  • @willietx Collins started as a drummer because of 2 reasons. First, he's an amazing drummer. Second, while his voice is incredible, Peter Gabriel is a lyrical and musical genius. Before their stint into pop music in the 80's they were the quintessential prog rock band

  • that original crew of musicians he had during his tours was probibly the most talented musicians in the industry

  • love this, I was on a date at this concert with my then boyfriend, futre( and now ) former husband. It was a great memory

  • really a Nice end of that song

    ! <3 <3 <3

  • VERY nice copy of this song- Thanks, PhilGenesisDB! :)

    Clear and crisp!

  • @transfoby who the fuck are you callin a creep runt

  • This was my sweet husband's favorite song. He lost his fight with cancer at 55yrs old, and I honored him with this song at his funeral. Thanks Phil

  • @blondiern56 Bless you in your loss. I am sure he is listening...

  • @blondiern56 thats totally awesome! not the death of course.

  • @976chapa Sincerest thanks....

  • @blondiern56 Great song and think of the joy and fond memories only, not the sorrow. :)

  • @LaydenRobinson Sincerest thanks for your kind reply. This song brings much joy, and comfort...We had front row seats several yrs ago,on Feb 7, my husband's birthday.. at Phil's "last concert tour". This was his "final" song....little did I know ..........

  • I'm a Huge Fan of Phil Collins!

  • Yes, I say it again: He is king of pop. He is also great rockman. He is great artist but like he sing "ordinary man" with "ordinary life". He is simply the best.

  • I went to a lot of concerts...by far he is the BEST!!! Best concert I ever went to. Nice and quiet going into concert and coming out, wan't noisy and "chaos" as such. He sounds great no "Tweeking" his talent, if you get my meaning. :)

  • David Hasselhoff on the piano....

  • @muskusa85 I think that's Tony Banks from Genesis. lol

  • A spirited version of Take Me Home, and one we will all remember for generations to come. My children will grow up knowing this song.

  • the marimbas sound like shit. They are out of tune.

    Awesome version, though.

  • their not out of tune he is using a hard plastic mallet instead of a mallet wraped in yarn thats why their so high pitch

  • Best live artist

  • I was at that show! I was 15 years old. Phil and Chester are great drummers.

Was happy to see this aired on HBO back in the day! Even then, I was all, like, "Hey! I was at that show!"

The Hot Tub Club. Great show.

  • Lucky child.:)

  • Phil Collins = Legend

  • u act like u dont have anything to apprec iate. appreciate ur LIFE!

  • why dont u?

  • One of the best closers in Rock, in my opinion. Such a sense of finality about this tune.

  • Phil Collins is a legend!

In a few months, this concert will be turning 25 years old!

    Thanx 4 posting this GEM!

  • No fakes here, this is genuine magical musical experience. special thanks for this wonderful music by this awesome man. thank you, Phil. you've given us wonderful music for our ears to hear.

  • I love this song...It really described my life when it cam e out

  • oh im glad im not alone! this song describes my life in unlimited ways! it really speaks to me due to my childhood being so tragic and i always wanted something to soothe my spirit on that subject. this song matches me to a whole of which only those with a heart could really truly understand. this song actually brings me to tears every time i hear it. such magic coming from it, its like heaven in the form of music. a true masterpiece done by a man with a true purpose and an awesome singing voice

  • What is the meaning behind this song?

  • Always loved this song, so much atmosphere.

  • this song is supposed to be about a mental institution patient...this song would calm a mentally unstable person in a good second. Phil is so inspirational, he would have the whole asylum swaying lighters to his music. he would give them a musical experience to remember for the rest of their lives and it would also give them hope.

  • Amen. I was in attendance that night in Dallas on the 3rd row center stage 25 years ago and it was an unbelievable night. Great artist who put on a hell of a show.

  • You are very lucky & fortunate to have witnessed this magic in person. me personally, i would have loved to have sung this with him. that is, in fact, one of my dreams is to sing this song with him one day if its possible. i would feel like im in heaven if i ever got to sing this with him.

  • Two sold out shows in Reunion Arena. There were 30,000 or more singing the song with him that night. Good thing it was loud enough no one heard me. Heehee. Thanks and have a great day.

  • i want to sing it with him side by side, like i wanna be standing right there with him and sing it. this is pretty much a dream of mine.

  • Hope you get there!

  • well im hoping so because im possibly going on American Idol this summer for auditions, so i hope i can receive my wish there! :)

  • Yeah

When this came out I had just graduated from college in the past fall in a major my parents totally disapproved in. I changed it half way through without telling them I left my state to get away from the controlling I felt at home.

In some ways I still am looking for that "home". I think we all carry scars from our childhood ( Also Goo Goo Dolls Name) but when I just feel trapped I get in my 68 mustang convertible and blare this song and just drive.

Glad I am not alone in this :)

  • Hands down, THE FINEST live version of this song!

  • I do like the But seriously Version better, a bit more doom and gloom in it!!!

  • @jediwampaoola

I like the 'serious hits live' version the best ;) But phil is always a king

  • @jediwampaoola damn straight

  • I remember getting goosebumps to alot of Collins tunes back in the day. His music still holds up, big time. He's all sincerity, and judging from interviews, seems like one of the all-around nice guys in the music biz

  • yes hes a very generous man. hes NOT a snob at all. this is why Phil is inspirational, cuz his songs are as sincere as he is.

  • You don't even have to see Daryl to know when he's playing. His sound is unique... awesome.

  • that would be MJ.

  • i ave tears in my eyes every time love it

  • you are not alone...this song is too spiritual and emotional not to cry from it...

  • Timeless and Priceless...

  • Daryl is great.!

    No Hackett Required.

  • Steve Hackett tears ass on this song. :P

Actually, Peter Gabriel does background vox on the original version. But, you good people already knew that.

Bonecrusher, I don't think this is on DVD. But it should be. Seems like all the mediocre stuff with every band is reissued on DVD, but the good stuff is left languishing on fan's VHS tapes. Bummer.

Hopefully PC will start on his collection after they finish with the Genesis live box. That should be out soon. :)

  • Sometimes it's difficult to tell what people are talking about on YouTube & if they are kidding or not. Can you tell me why you mention Steve Hackett, when he has nothing to do with this particular song? Daryl Stuermer is on most live versions & definitely the original.

  • Undoubtedly kidding on the Hackett, hence the :P

  • Gotcha.

  • He's amazing!

  • The sound is so incredible! Love this!!!

  • One beautiful masterpiece!

  • love love love this song...
