I actually remember Les Surfs ! But then I am old enough to probably be most of yous grandaddy ... but Les Surfs actually made a little blip on world pop music in the mid-1960s. I heard them first on the radio when living in Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia).
Les Surfs were actually known in the U.S. amongst many. The group's "Scopitones" were seen many times in the states & they did show up on a few U.S. TV shows in the 60's. I think many of the African-American groups of the time were appreciative that they translated many of their tunes for a French speaking audience.
Thanks for posting. I saw a brief clip of this Scopitone and then luckily found the full song on Napster back in the day. I blare it on my daily commute in the Philly burbs. What an apex of pop. I think the band was largely comprised of pygmies. How cool. Does anyone know of an album available?
I have a Les Surfs Album on vinyl that I picked out of the trash about a decade ago. I still have it, but not here. It had a picture of the band in an old car. Lots of good songs. Pourquoi Pas Moi, Va Ou Tu Veux, etc.

I like to view and listen to this often. It's quite nice, novel and feel-good. Such good-looking young people.
