Well the test is if he can do anything ORIGINAL. A true artist is ORIGINAL. Not merely copying.

He has done originals. Several of them in fact, plus an arrangement of his own- a fact you would have known if you had looked through his channel.

Actually copying doesn't mean anything. It's how well you play something that matters. He wouldn't have fans as he does if he wrote all his own music. Nobody would recognize any of it and probably never find it to begin with. Even if it's not his own he plays the music beautifully and with such passion. Even more impressive is that most the time he doesn't have any sheet music. He just hears the song and is able to play it this well usually in just 1 run through. THAT my friend IS art.

Why do you and others insist that no performance is worth anything unless it is an original composition by the musician?

All of the great guitarists---Chet Atkins, John Williams, Christopher Parkening, Tommy Emmanuel---not to mention the best violinists, pianists, and the great bands and orchestras, recorded and performed compositions other than their own most of the time. The idea that only original work is worthwhile is a type of isolationism.

Besides, he has posted several originals.
