  • NOOO!!

  • is this really a parody or did you just edit the whole thing with Bogart's movie clip?

  • Get out of my way, you Flame of Udun! :D

  • The "War Bonds" bit at the end was a really nice touch. Great job.

  • Peter Lorre as Gollum/Smeagol is the best thing to happen ever. It's just too perfect.

  • ahahahaha good job

  • I am a major Bogard fan and I loved this. Which movies did you use? I saw:

Casablanca, Maltese Falcon, Big Sleep, The Third Man (clever, Bogart was not even in it), Godzilla (also not a Bogie), and M (again, not a Bogie), and Dark Passage.

Bogart was a kick ass Frodo. The Dark forces would not stand a chance against the guy.

  • It's weird that in 1939 The Wizard of Oz got their film in color (well, most of it) and 1940 movies are black and white!

  • @HuggableSpongebob Really, though, noir movies in colour would not have worked. At all.

  • I think we're close enough from here! lol!!!

  • Yet again, poor old Tom Bombadil gets left out of the movies.... and his little Goldberry too.

  • Old school.. Nice!!

  • Damn need to change my pants laughed so hard I wet myself . . . EXCELLENT ! ! !

  • i wonder how the orcs look like...

  • ʞ9ɟıqɾʞɾ0p7=ʌ¿ɥɔʇɐʍ/ɯoɔ˙ǝqnʇnoʎ˙ʍʍʍ//:dʇʇɥ „uɐɯʞɔos„ pǝןןɐɔ ɹıou ɯןıɟ ʇɹoɥs ʎɯ ʇno ʞɔǝɥɔ

  • LOL!!!

  • Well, I'll give the bad news first...that was by no comparison the worst Peter Lorre impressoin I've ever heard. Ever. My ears bled. The man is spinning in his grave as we speak.

But other that that, this video was a riot. All of the other voices were great. I love the clips you used, and the actors you picked for each part. Bogart's attitude was just priceless for a LOTR spoof. And I just love how you inserted the silly monsters into the story. Bogart vs. Godzilla was just priceless. XD

  • You don't mess with Frodo when he's played by Mr. Bogart. He doesn't need any Fellowship to help him. Lorre as Gollum is also perfect!

  • Bogie as Frodo is priceless lol

  • Very nice work

  • Hutt man this is utterly supoib as they say : ) i KNEW Peter Lorre would be gollum and as for Shelob, utterly priceless. The little details like the hotel signs being changed to the likes of 'Moria' fantastic. great work m8ty and the best parody out there bar none.

  • Better than new...

  • haha this is brilliant

  • Great job on the voices and everything.

  • Очень смешно ! Спасибо !

  • i had a smile on my face the whole time i was watching this. this was brilliant! i loved every bit of it.

  • I'd love to know which movies went into the making of this. :D

  • Now there is a Frodo with an attitude.

  • WOW! I had no idea the Peter Jackson trilogy was a remake!

  • jimmy stewart and vincent price

  • that was just cool

  • You had too much time on your hands when you made this, and I applaud you!

  • How did I know Peter Lorre would be Gollum/Smeagol? XD

  • Originally released with the title Lorre Of The Ring, this short film inspired J.R.R.Tolkien to expand the story into a 3 volume trilogy he called Lord Of The Rings.

He never paid Warner Brothers a cent for royalties on the story idea.

  • Get out of my way, you flame of Udun. XD

  • HE SHOT THE F*CKING BALROG!!! XD

  • funny, but I personally feel that it mocked the old Humphrey Bogart fliks more than LOTR.

  • made by warner brothers pictures a aol time warner not o. sharp

  • I love Dietrich's weird almost Texas accent!

  • Sam T_T

  • stay out of mordror!

  • wow, he is the smartest frodo ever!

  • caiblanca, the multeese falcom, the big sleep, all ripped from 3 films

  • It's brilliant! LotR AND film noir!

  • This is great!!!

  • Love the Weathertop and Moria parts xD

  • Whomever did this has quite some culture under his/her belt. Godzilla's about 14 years newer than The rest of the clips, though. But seriously, how many Bogart movies have a giant, fire breathing monster in it?

However, this is fantastic, I bow at your feet...

  • I'm glad that I watched this :D

  • hahaha! He should take the bus to Mordor!!!

  • Ingenious!!! I loved Peter Lorre as Gollum and Godzilla as the Balrog. Bogie and Godzilla in the same movie. The mind boggles!!! 5/5 Peace, George.

  • Uh.. I hope that your question is also a joke, because this film is one, too.

  • brilliant, hutt.

  • The cudos go to the author, O. Sharp. :)

  • What a great concept!

  • Egads Frodo, you are one remarkable hobbit...

awesome voices and editing. i wish this movie had actually been made. peter lorre as gollum is too perfect.

  • This is great! "Get outta my way, Flame of Udun! *BANG!*"

    So good...

  • ...that Galadriel is VERY monotone.lol

  • Elrond's crippled!

  • Gotta watch where you're wandering around out there. Weathertop can be a pretty tough neighborhood.

  • this is so perfect.

  • Excellent! good editing work. ROFL 10/10.

  • "Get out of my way, you flame of Udun!"

    :D

  • Very enjoyable, thank you for posting but I wish there were more credits in your search criteria and I would have spotted this great video much sooner. At 6:01 to 6:10 that's Elisha Cook following Bogart. Could you add him to the credits even if his role isn't a speaking one? There are a lot of character actor fans who are also Tolkien fans!

  • Sure, no problem. :)

  • It's great! For a wee moment I even believed it to be real.:-))

  • This one definitely deserved and Oscar..

I don't know how it got passed up... not even a mention... I think it should have got at least nominated right next to the Dictator with Charlie Chaplin...

thank you for sharing, 1236bigcat~ (:d:)

  • i dont think so i think we are close anof from here

  • Enough, its spelled enough you literary Einstein!

  • " Give us the ring, See, give us the rind, nyah nyah, The precious."

  • Peter Lorre as Smeagol! Great!

  • Orson Welles as Saruman! That's quite fitting! ;p

  • Just awesome! Very well done!

  • 'stay out of morder' THAT MADE ME LOL

  • LMAO

    good job :)

  • Not sure which is funnier, the obvious brilliant parody we are presented with, or the low IQ types screaming that it's crap or pointing out that LotR wasn't written yet rofl

  • You have quite a point here. :)

  • actually it was written after WW1, but not published until after WW2

  • It was the best

  • that was hysterical "noooooooo!" lol

  • Superb! Peter Lorre makes an excellent Smeagol/Gollum. Any more noir rewrites floating around out there?

  • Oh, it's been years since I've seen this. Love the music- Elrond and Sam were awesome.

  • whered u even find this?

  • I think this should be subtitled "What if Frodo had a tough backbone and lived in the 1940's"...

  • omo! Sam is the token black guy 0_0

  • It must be taken and thrown into mount doom.

    Alright.

  • lolol that was sooo crappy and sooooo funny

  • Sam and Elrond were the best parts xD

    And the Ringwraiths of course.

  • like what he thrown the ring into the mount doom..

    owned!

  • "stay out of mordor"

  • Sam as a black man is the funniest part.

  • Depressed by the lack of inspiration and by the constant Luftwaffe shelling, John Ronald Reuel gets a front seat at the movies

  • Oddly, Peter Lorre does kind of remind me of Andy Serkis...

  • That would be how a LOTR movie would be made in 1940

  • Bwahahaha! Nice one!

    Or are you serious?

  • Peter Lorre as Gollum - inspired!

    Godzilla/Balrog - hilarious!

I was laughing fit to be tied when they started singing "Road Goes Ever On" like "As Time Goes By"....

A great parody attempt, thank you!

  • I am amazed. One of the best parodies on YouTube-- Five stars.

    ~Sarah

  • Brilliant..

  • that part with Godzilla made me laugh so hard lol

  • Brilliant:DThank you for this:D

  • this is very clever. lovely job.

  • obviously you're not as smart as you like to think, also uses the big sleep and maltese falcon

  • lol.

  • I don't think so... I think we're close enough from here!

  • Wow Frodo finally got tough!

  • LOL - it's a parody a guy made by taking apart past films and editing them together using his own voices, not actually a film made by Howard Hawks in 1940. Unless you were just saying to the parody guy that it wasn't a plausible date to choose...

  • wtf?

  • so funny, worth a repeat

  • Great job! This really appeals to all of us who are both Bogart fans and LOTR fans..... true we are a small group but ty anyway.

  • "Stay out of MOrdor!"

    lol.. wtf?

  • Ok, that was completely inspired!!!! I am your servant. Best LOTR parody EVER!!!!!!!!!

  • Get out of my way you flame of udun!

  • it couldn't have been a spoof in 1940s the books weren't published until the late 1950s

  • i was just about to say that

    hahahahahahahaha

  • Actually, they were published in the early 1950s.

  • This is very clever. Congrats on the work!

  • lol frodo beats up everyone with ease. the balrog was hilarious!

  • Hilarious! This is as same time an homage to LOTR and 40s movies. Very good voice dubbing under the technical point of view as well.

  • i agree. great tribute to both. they did everything perfect in this movie, use of them music, voice-acting, everything in my opinion.

  • brilliant. and that actor used for Gollum, perfect! that guy was always kinda creepy in those old films LOL.

  • Yes, if they did LOTR in that time that actor would have been perfect for Gollum!

  • A brilliant idea realized, well done! A bit tedious at certain moments, but funny and interesting more often.

  • Great thing, good job! Claude Rains must play Dark Lord SAURON.

  • "You fool! The Precious!" XD amazing.

midway through I was thinking Peter Lorre would make the perfect Gollum, and five seconds later I saw him and was like YES!!! =D

  • This was brilliantly edited! Nice job!

  • Lol that was rediculos !

  • Ifi could do an anime "WTF" face i would

  • Totally hilarious ! Congratulations ! It's a magnificient parody, one of the best ones I have ever seen on that topic indeed !

  • yes i am, im just saying tho...

  • You _are_ aware this is a spoof, right? ;)

  • That's cool!

  • Hahahahaha, keep them coming! I'm getting a good laugh out of your ridiculous rants.

  • An insult from a complete imbecile is indeed a compliment to the intelligent. So dodgesxt, I thank thee for your attempt to offend me. In actuality, you made it known once again that I have more intelligence in my pinky finger than you do in your entire body.

  • LMFAO, you clearly don't know the definition of the word. And seriously, that's the best response you can come up with? An insult?

  • No, I believe the question is: Are YOU serious? This is incredibly OBVIOUSLY, a joke.

  • uh wtf

  • Uh ... ok ... wtf ...

  • WOW Humphrey Baggins portraying Frodo Bogart(Over Expresive Mind Cathartic Orgasm) one in a life time experience

  • Nice. Traitorous wizard!

  • very well done

  • Brilliant.

  • lol hilarious!!! :D

  • Peter Lorre as Smeagol/Gollum very funny!! O.Sharp was very fortunate to be able to cast him for the part. Very cleaver.

  • hahaha the blak guy is sam. Terrific!!

(i'm not racist) but bak in those days that would have been the perfect choice since sam was a bitch XD

  • Stay out of Mordor. LOL!

  • genius, most original parod i've seen in ages!

  • lol Brilliant! Wonderful editting.

  • bhehebhebheueebeuehebhubhebhe genius

  • beautiful editing job, thank you! That must have taken hours.

  • Thank to O. Sharp for this marvellous work. :) I am but a humble provider :)

  • not bad at all.

  • i thought lord of the rings trilogy was not published until 1954

  • :/ the parody's quite obviously modern - read the copyright at the start of the film.

  • of course, Tolkien took the story from this propaganda piece intended to convince Americans to join the war...

  • :-DDDDDDD

  • brilliant editing. :)

  • Lol, Sam as Sam.

  • very well-made! I applaud this video.

  • peter lorre as golem. FUNNY

  • Ha! Entertaining!!! The spiders actually creeped me out.
