  • In memory of his son Jacques Vierne (Opus 42 - appeared 1924)

2 Violins, Viola, Cello and of course Piano. really wonderfull.

Louis Vierne was a great composer and showed the world his world of dark feelings. He died during a concert in Notre-Dame on his organ on 2th June 1937. wow.

  • His son died in the first world war; in fact he composed this music as a protest against the madness of warfare...

  • Qui sont les interprètes ?

  • Quatuor Viotti +Jean Hubeau

  • However fine his organ music undoubtedly is, Vierne is unjustly overlooked outside the world of the organ. This music is superb.

  • This sounds like the Frank Quintet. I've never heard this piece before. Thanks for the upload.

  • I love this movement - so gloomy, passionate, and profound. Of course Vierne's piano quintet is one of his masterpieces. I believe it was written in memory of his son's death.

  • You are right. This dark piano quintet was composed after his son death.
