  • Nice for a more upbeat version of Chet's Songs... Thanks

  • It's sad what became of his life ...drugs destroys the best

  • I made love to an energetic yet slightly less than average intelligence asian woman to this song. It was great!

  • Oh no, there will NEVER be another you, baby.

  • This was originally a song about a sheep farmer who was castrated for having carnal knowledge of the livestock in his charge. "There will never be another ewe" Then there's the Nazi vewrsion. "There will never be another Jew". The bastards should live so long....

  • from what album is this song? I only have the one that is just instrumental from the album "Young Chet"

  • I don't care how he died, all I know is that he was an amazing man and has my utmost respect.

  • She left me four months ago...May 17th...every single woman I've seen since than, they're just not her. There will never be another you, Melissa....

  • Go check out Kenny Burrells Summertime its the best version!:D

  • Am I crazy, or does he switch from F Major on the instrumental to Eb Major (voice)? Interesting if deliberate.

  • @jazzflutist Not crazy at all. I noticed that too. weird transition.

  • @jazzflutist Yes he does switch to Eb major

  • @doglufer; ya had to be there. @ grootveld (hollander, Ja?) look for the all the shit Capitol records. Billeie or Frank or "Someone", cause that's the anonomus american tradition. Sings Rodgers and Hart; or Gerwshin; or Cole Porte; or Irving Berlin . . . .or the thouands that wnted to be like that. It's American music. Those of us in the Sout, like to think it's a carreer. For Yankees, it's just a hobby. But, damn me if they aren't good.

  • Absolutely beautiful... RIP :(

  • what the album this song from?????????

  • Could anyone say the names of some other good jazz standard/songs. I've already downloaded everything of Coltrane, so there is no point in call those:)

  • @GrootveldMusic hmm, miles davis, stan getz, paolo conte (italian jazz ;))

  • @Spiricort Lester Young - all tunes...

  • @Spiricort Jobim has a lot of wonderful songs. How Insensitive (Insensatez), One Note Samba, Girl from Ipanema, and many others. Also, Joe Henderson and Dexter Gordon.

  • @GrootveldMusic hank jones, lester young, dizzy, buddy rich, charlie parker

  • @GrootveldMusic charlie parker (my little suede shoes is great!), wynton kelly, oscar peterson, sonny rollins, bud powell, gill evans for some great big bands, nat king cole etc. etc. etc.

  • @GrootveldMusic Stella By Starlight, Laura, Take 5, Lady Bird, Tenderly, Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Thelonius Monk, Johnny Hartman, Bobby Timmons, Art Tatum

  • @GrootveldMusic

    - It could happen to you

    - Stella by starlight

    - My funny valentine

would all be some very well known standards (:

  • @GrootveldMusic buy a realbook. then you got them. songs, written by jazz legends are so called jazz classics. standarts usually are old broadway pieces played by jazz musicians. but most people mix that up. ... just like that.

alfies theme, by sonny, for example is a classic. there will never be another you is a standart. it was actually part of the musical iceland.

  • @GrootveldMusic hahaha, Spiricort named artists and players not standards. Try Autumn Leaves, probably THE jazz standard. Stolen Moments is a fun standard. One of my personal favorites are Someday My Prince Will Come and Route 66. I'm a piano guy, so I'm not sure what you'd be looking for.

  • @GrootveldMusic Paul Desmond,

  • @GrootveldMusic yo man look up charles mingus!

  • @GrootveldMusic Try, Charlie parker, dizzy gilliespie, ornette coleman, george russell, wynton marsalis, brian bromberg, angelo de barre and many more

  • @GrootveldMusic

there is thousands man. just get your ear out there and suck up as much of this shit as you can

  • @GrootveldMusic wayne shorter, sonny stitt, dizzy gillespie, barry harris, Brandford Marsalis, thelonious monk, miles davis, stan getz, ken vandermark, keith jarrett. there are so many good jazz musicians...

  • @GrootveldMusic kenny burrell, grant green, wes montgomery, paul desmond..

  • @GrootveldMusic Well, you've allready got the best two! coltrane and chet baker. George Benson and Wes Montgomery are great, and I like gypsy jazz alot, like bireli lagrene. Enjoy.

  • @GrootveldMusic Here's some standard tunes: When Sunny Gets Blue, Bernie's Tune, Out Of Nowhere, Autumn In New York, The Days Of Wine And Roses, Foggy Day, Autumn Leaves, Fly Me To The Moon, Take The "A" Train, My Funny Valentine, On Green Dolphin Street, Ain't Misbehavin', Satin Doll, The Girl From Ipanema, and the list goes on.

Here's some Not-So-Standard Tunes: Night In Tunisa, Manteca, Desifinado, Chameleon, Freddie The Freeloader, All Blues, Yardbird Suite, etc. Hope this helps. :)

  • @JoshRosenblumMusic i can't believe night in tunisia is considered less than standard

  • Comment removed

  • @TEgnoto89 LOL idiot tunisia is a goddamn desert! No civilized human would ever want to be there!!

  • @GrootveldMusic

Consult "The Real Book".....(my) Jazz bible....

  • @GrootveldMusic THE REAL BOOK. PERIOD. THE END.

  • love how he ends the song... classic

  • thank you for posting .

  • There will never be another Chet !

  • THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE CHET BAKER !

  • its sad that a person like this is not here anymore...

  • amazing

  • its sad he jumped out a window he was such a good jazz mucsician

  • I don't know that there was conclusive evidence that he jumped. Tragic end, one way or the other. Talent such as his is so rare.

  • @dogluver417 they say he didn't jump on his own...

  • @dogluver417 I think it was probably closer to him coming back to where he was staying late at night, inebriated, and the door had been locked, so he climbed up the lattice/ivy on the side of the house to climb through the window, but fell trying... that's what I think........ still sad.

  • @nantwon actually he was high when he fell out well thats what im asuming cuz he has large amounts of cocain in his room

  • @dogluver417 ???

actually... when someone is high on cocaine they are quite inebriated

  • @dogluver417 I think it was probably closer to him coming back to where he was staying late at night, inebriated, and the door had been locked, so he climbed up the lattice/ivy on the side of the house to climb through the window, but fell trying... that's what I think........ still sad.

  • @dogluver417 The guy sounded haunted when he performed.....when I heard how he died, it just made perfect sense to me that he would have took his own life. The good ones are always tormented in some way....shame, as you are right....Chet was an extremely talented jazz musician. One of my faves.

  • @dogluver417

    He didn't jump.

  • @onewiseowl he didn't jump he was high and fell.

  • @onewiseowl woops sorry replied to the wrong person

  • @slowpokecity

    It's ok.

  • @dogluver417 there is always a chance somebody "helped" him, as in took "care" of him in the mafia way. you just never can be 100% sure what happened.

  • @dogluver417 don't think he "jumped",, he might of nodded off, unless he was pushed,,but did not jump,,yea, still sad.....

  • @dogluver417 : I think he fell out, accidentally, according to some accounts.

  • @dogluver417 actually that's been a point of contention over the years. according to one story, he got into a fight with this drug pusher who showed up at the hotel he was staying at and, well, you know the rest.

  • One of his best vocals ever. Great job Chet.
