What if every nation could do the same and admit the fact that it left God and forgot His love and mercy and put Jesus aside in the everlasting race for money, power, fame and pleasure. If only each and every of us could do this...
@katiepcutie - I downloaded this off Dutch Sheet's website in the fall of 2008. I don't think it's still available at this point. If it is, I don't know where to find it. Sorry!
what they mean? "Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord." AKA the Lord is coming...
Seriously.
"He hath loosed the FATEful lightning of his TERRIBLE SWIFT SWORD." Oh my, guess what that means... FATEFUL. "fate". Get it? Terrible sword. Lightning.
The Bible is a lot more than you think. It is true. Schools, govergnment, buisness, ever since the modern era, it has fractured the memory of God to which he will return to enlighten us spiritually.
Don't you people see? Look into the lyrics! They have a meaning you know, not some gibberish that people imagined happened, the author wrote this with a purpose, not a random religious interpretation like you might think. Do the research! Have you not heard of Judgement day? The theme this entire poem speaks of. Search up the whole song. This is only an abridged version--They have taken away 3 entire stanzas from the original poem.
And the quotation at the end--listen to it! can you not see--
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Beautiful song--- but very sacastic though whats up with pic of Macain, sarah pallin, and Obama -- so unchristian though typical American - so full of self righteous.
Itis a sin for a Christian to vote for Dumbo obama. He is for the continuation murder of the unborn baby.He is against marriage as described in Gen 2:24.He came out against California Prop 8 and is for the repeal of DOMA
He made a statement that he was a opposed to gay marriage because he was a CHRISTIAN! He supports the states rights to decide though. He does support abortion pretty hardcore though. Just remember though we still have a separation of Church and state which is very important.
Separation of church and state merely means that there shouldn't be a Government-run church that people are forced to conform to. The Church of England and The Church of Scotland are good examples, although I'm not sure they still force everyone in the UK to join the "official church" as they did 500 years ago.
American founding founders put up seperation church and state so they won't follow the english church. Founding founders didn't want government to follow any CERTAIN Christian groups. But this doesn't mean get rid of Christian symbols in government. Athiest and Liberals changed the meaning of Seperation of Church And State. Schools students have the right to pray in school. I did in a public school before stupid Athiest and Liberals changed the meaning during the 1990's
Really??? Because I was under the impression that atheists like Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Payne wanted a nation for religious liberty. Have you read the treaty of Tripoli? Maybe Jefferson's letters?
Here's an exerpt:
Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.
-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper, February 10, 1814
That is a commentary on the origin of our common law, not an expression of Jefferson's personal belief or disbelief. Context matters. some dishonest types will conveniently ignore it.
@Sugarfootxxxx I'm reading Ben Franklin's autobiography, available free for kindle on amazon.com. It leaves zero doubt; Ben Franklin was no atheist. He was a staunch believer in God. You'd serve yourself well to spend some time reviewing the hard facts of history in lieu of just the facts that support your own personal politics.
Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear.
-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 10, 1787
Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity.
Benjamin Franklin petitioned for the introduction of prayer into congress. Hardly the act of an atheist or agnostic.
Jefferson wrote our Declaration of Independence in which he references God, our Creator, and divine providence, hardly the words of an atheist or agnostic.
Jefferson wrote that the human rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are inalienable and endowed to us by our Creator.
Neither of those quotes indicate that Jeffeson was agnostic. They are simply commentary. There is no expression of believe or disbelief.
Other of his writings do however indicate such:
"There is not in the British empire a man who more cordially loves a union with Great Britain than I do. But by the God that made me, I will cease to exist before I yield to a connection on such terms as the British Parliament propose."
THOMAS JEFFERSON, letter to John Randolph, Nov. 29, 1775
"Adore God. Reverence and cherish your parents. Love your neighbor as yourself, and your country more than yourself. Be just. Be true. Murmur not at the ways of Providence. So shall the life into which you have entered be the portal to one of eternal and ineffable bliss.}
THOMAS JEFFERSON, letter to Thomas Jefferson Smith, Feb. 21, 1825
Pretty clear that someone who is advising others to "adore God" is a believer. Then there is the Declaration of Independence that Jefferson wrote.
Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one-half the world fools and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth.
-- Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, 1781-82
@Sugarfootxxxx If Jefferson wasn't Christian then where did he come up with the admonition to "Love your neighbor as yourself" that you quote? There is one religion on the planet that teaches that, Christianity.
@Blake1960 christianty was not the first to preach that message by any means. The buddha preached a similar message. Also my religion, paganism, preaches as a fisr rule "Do as wish but harm no one" very similar to what Jesus said. Where exactly did Jefferson come up with that quote? Please direct me to the document I'd be very interested to read it.
@Sugarfootxxxx Now you are making stuff up. The only religion to admonish that we treat others as we would ourselves is Christianity. It's in the Bible. Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31.
@Sugarfootxxxx You fail to recognize the glaring difference between "Treat other as you would like to be treated", a positive admonition to relate kindly to others versus your "Do not treat others as you would not like to be treated", a negative/avoidance directive. One teaches going out of our way to treat others with grace & compassion. The other directs us merely to not offend others, a negative directive.
Claiming that the two are equivalent is intellectually if not blatantly dishonest.
@Blake1960 i see the difference in wording but there is no difference in the message. If Jesus ever existed he used a phrase that every other philosopher before and after him did.
@Sugarfootxxxx Pretending doesn't make truth out of fantasy. Words have meaning. "Do no harm to others" is far less of a burden than "do for others as you would like done for you."
Using the words "shit" and "pile" to characterize the words of Jesus is very unfortunate.
@Blake1960 is pretending doesnt make truth out of fantasy then please take your own advice. By they way im still waiting for that document that contains the quote Thomas Jefferson supposedly said. And same shit different piles is a figure of speech not an attack on Jesus, if he ever even lived.
@Sugarfootxxxx - I see clearly the truth of words & their meaning where you seem incapable of the most elementary distinctions between the meanings of different formations of words.
