This was one of Rod's greatest love songs ... in fact, it's one of *the* greatest love songs. What the hell happened to him after this stage in his career?? I think it's called 'selling out' to popular trends instead of doing what he did best. Now he pampers up to whatever audience will listen to him who don't remember is iconic past that he left behind him ... and all for money.
i have to say i echo what you have said , but sadly hes not as young as he used to be and ,i guess has to sing and go with what style he can perform now a days. I will still buy what ever he puts out because i just think hes great and i have done for close on 40yrs....Im so looking forward to the Faces reunion later this yr.
I have loved this song since the first time I heard it in the 70's, I had the 8 track tape in my old "64" ford galaxy. Now almost 40 years later I've discovered it means a whole lot to me. Years back my lovely wife stuck by while I struggled with alcholism, this fall I was stricken with cancer and it is literally coldest winter. Thru this she has stuck by my and supported me. I can never thanks her enough, perhaps I'll have Rod thank her for me.
Toolee, same with me, my husband has put up with me for 31 years. He is the love of my life. People ask how we have remained together for so long and I tell them we never wanted a divorce at the same time. Best wishes to you I hope you have a full recovery and many more years together.
God!!! I haven't heard this song in almost 30yrs. and it almost brought me to tears. Man,oh man the memories. The album just kicks ass!!!! Thanks to whoever posted this
This is one of the finest traditional Celtic folk/pop tunes ever written. It can bring tears to my cynical eyes. Seeing Ronnie and Rod together warms the jaded heart. People forget that Rod and the Faces were one of the best Brit bands of all time.
Yeah, both Rod (his first four solo albums) and the Faces had a brilliant mix of rock n roll, blues, country and folk/trad. songs. I've always looked upon Faces as genuine musicians willing to explore the musical heritage.
Briliant vid - one of the greatest songs ever of one of the greates albums ever (Every Picture Tells A Story). I didn't realise Rod could play an instrument - thought he was just a singer\writer.
Beautiful song. I was disappointed they left out this verse: I recall the night we knelt and prayed, noticing your face was thin and pale, I found it hard to hide my tears. I felt ashamed, I felt I'd let you down.
Mine too. I learned how to play mandolin because of this song. ( And "Unfaithful Servant" by The Band. I went ahead and learned the banjo, too. One of my all-time favorite songs. Viva El Roderico!
Perhaps one of the greatest videos on all of YOU TUBE! RS+RW=really good times and on those cold snowed in days in PORT EWEN,NY I can assure you tunes like this helped keep ONE interested! Thx 4 postin this type of majik as I can attest IT WORKS!

The Rod Stewart "Unplugged" was far and away the best of the entire series. Having Ron there made it very cool.
