@Lambda25 Think of it like making a sandwich in your kitchen - easier to eat right there, but your purpose and goal is to make the sandwich to take with you to eat later on. A large batch of pitch adhesive like this will last for many months. Much better to make pitch sticks that you can use over and over and take with you when you go.
I am glad you did this video! Of all the flint knapping videos, they show you exactly how to do everything, except hot to secure the finished product into a handle or a shaft! Thank you, so much! Now, a question. If I'm out in the wild, where will I find PITCH. They talk about the properties of pitch in the bible, using it on Noah's Ark, but where to find it in the woods? Just ANY woods. You mentioned a "mixture" of the pitch. How about a vid on this subject. thanks ahead of time! "General"
@JustinBaker2567 dude it's up to you if you want to use primitive tools use it but if you want it easier you can use a saw or any modern technology to do it
Great video. One question: does the pitch still stick to your hands like raw pine sap? If it does I'll want to avoid manipulating it with my hands too much...
would it not be easier to go directly from the "just made" molten pitch to hafting the arrows? rather than cooling and reheating?

wow, i'm amazed what you can do with natural materials. How would you compare this glue to commercial hot-melt glue? Better or worse?

did you make the arrowheads yourself??
bloodylover101 3 years ago
Yes, I made them. The atlatl dart point is made from Dacite, which is kind of like obsidian. The little one is chert/flint.
