come on man, look up zulu kingdom, that was the real zulu warriors from africa. They were defeated in the 1870's, havent you ever seen or heard of their great leader Shaka Zulu ? Google it bro. Then google Bam and you can read for yourself, he took the name after watching a movie about them ! Whats left of the zulu kingdom is part of South Africa, no where near Egypt ! A "pilgramage" lol. Bam won a essay contest and the prize was a trip to Africa. I seriously doubt they paid for a 2 year trip !
@breezwonder very wrong.....hip hop doesn't belong to one race of people. Latins in the Bronx had a lot to do with hip hop culture as well as blacks. do some research before you state false facts....... it makes you sound Ignorant.
@sourTRON no you are very wrong! Africa Bambatta and Kool Herc created it in 1972 before any other race ripped off err "Embraced" it. Type in "Latinos trying to steal Hip Hop" on you tube
@breezwonder Pioneers for sure. Kool herc is a god father. He named bboys "B-boys" but he wasnt the only one ripping it up back then. As for the Latinos trying to steal hip hop video it only show the influences of the culture. ( which is on point in that aspect).
@sourTRON I watched it and Immortal Technique is lying! Hip Hop was created in 1972 in the South Bronx by Bam and Kool Herc. They wanted to give Blacks voice in America so Bam took a pilgrimage to Egypt in 1970 for 2 years to study the teachings of the ZULU nation and he bought it back in 72'. It was all black people. No one is denying the later influence whan Latinos break dancers came along in the mid 70's. Latin B Boys admitted this themselves in a documentary
@breezwonder Bam didnt study any teachings of the "Zulu Nation" lol. He coined that name when he got back from africa because of a movie he seen about the Zulu ! They were indeed fierce warriors and there wasnt anything peaceful about them ! Thats just to damn funny. Why cant people take hip hop for what it is/was and not dramatize it to make it sound more than what it really was ! Whats up breezewood I see you every spreading false truths. The Ricans were involved ! Stop hatin
@Bootlegger718 It was'nt because of what he saw on TV.ZULU Is real tribe in Africa he studied under. You need to do some research bra. And Ricans came later not in the beginning
@breezwonder I'm not trying to embarass you bro, but I'm sick of reading all this romantic, over glorified , and dramatic "history" of hip hop ! Hip Hop is what it is, a culture that began in the Bronx by the poor disenchanted youth from both african american and latino backgrounds. The african americans most certainly contributed more to the music side, but the latino's probably did more with the art and breaking side.
@Bootlegger718 Hip Hop was started by Black disenchanted youth in the Bronx. Agaiun no one is denying the later Infulence of Latinos and others but we started...Just face it man!
@breezwonder come on bro, i guess we should all just take your word for it after I have proven that you aret grossly mis-informed at best ? I wasnt there in 73, but I know what I saw at the watson gleason playground in Soundview in the late 70's. MY BROTHERS AND LATINO"S GETTIN DOWN TOGETHER ! Maybe the Latino's had a crystal ball and knew where hip hop was going and decided to "get in on it early and steal it " lol. Your statements have been proven FALSE, YOU WORD CARRIES NO WEIFGT HERE
@breezwonder Look man, just because someone puts up a post in what he believes happend in the 70's in the BX doesnt make it true ! Look at all the dooms day posts on youtube talking about 2012, do you believe them? I'm black, I'm proud, I was involved with hip hop when it was a NEW YOYK ONLY THANG ! before it was even played on the radio's none the less popular. My beliefs keep me from perputating a lie that has been cooked up by african american people that werent even there to begin with !
@breezwonder Look brother, I'm not trying to tear you down, I'm trying to build you up. I think you have just been misinformed. Here is a site you can go to and read the truth told by the pioneers themselves like Bam, Herc, and Flash. Just go to daveyd.com and click on "Hip Hop History" then click on "Afrika Bambaataa's Definition of Hip Hop" and read for yourself. He spells it out for you at the end of the essay.
