Why does the entire front of the engine turn with the Trucks? They have it normal on HO scale, why aren't the coupler, steps, and snow plow part of the shell instead?
@BigDave8802008 HO and O Scale Are 2 Different Sizes. HO Scale Looks Normal Because it's Small, O Scale Train's Can't Turn if Trucks are Connected with the coupler, steps, and snow plow.
@BigDave8802008 O scale is 1:48 scale (1 real inch represents 48 scale inches) and HO is roughly half the size of O scale at 1:87 scale (1 inch represents 87 inches inches). So, something 48 inches long is real life would be 1 inch long in O Scale and something 87 inches long in real life would be 1 inch long in HO scale. Make sense?
@MrUp8444 Ya. I've been modeling in HO for years, and I understand that the trucks wouldn't be able to turn with them connected to the steps etc... But what irritates me is why are the trucks connected to them yet the bottom portion of the steps and snow plow separate from the rest of the shell? In HO, only the trucks turn, not the steps and snowplow and coupler. Have the trucks be one part, and the shell another.
@MrUp8444 I've never taken apart a shell on an O scale engine, so I do not know how they work. But in HO, if you take the shell off the assembly, everything comes off except the trucks and fuel tanks. I dont understand why O scale should be any different. Can you explain why they are?
I'll keep my N guage...I couldn't go ten feet with this monster...my apartment is too small
