How well I remember this show! I grew up in New Hartford Iowa and now live in the San Francisco Bay area. This show formulated a lot of my thinking when I was young and was a wonderful after school program. Rest in peace Dr. Max & Mombo!
I grew up watching Dr. Max and Mombo! I was one of those blessed to have watched this show. Max Hahn and Fred Petrik, RIP, you are sorely missed. Eastern Iowa was really blessed by their presence. :)
Actually there was a time in the 1960's when the show aired from 4:00 until 5:30 p.m. It was then scaled back to 4-5 p.m. in the early 1970's and by the time it was winding down in the late 70's, then WMT TV had turned it into a half hour show from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m.
I am a 46 year old combat veteran and I teared up when I watched this. Dr. Max and Mombo were constant parts of my life. I had forgotten about "My Important Book" but remembered it instantly on seeing this. Thank you for posting it and take it easy, play it safe and be careful.
What a find!! I was born and raised in Dubuque (Wahlert High Class of '64) Moved to Chicago, but have fond memories of Dr Max and Mombo. Anybody have an extra Important Book, I can't find mine. Paul
