The diesel busses that replaced the trams are far noisier. That was a common complaint in that era that the trams were noisy. They didn't have anything to compare against like we would today.

Where did they find commentators with that accent?
A remarkable model. I like the way that trams are described as 'Noisy' Obviously they never heard a large truck in a built up area...

thats the glastonbury tramway. 3 1/2" gauge 1/8th scale. It was very sadly dismantled last year, but all the trams are still extent.
