@ThatsClanisGay From the description, it sounds like he had some spine issues.
I'm sorry to hear that Auggie passed away, but at least he went while he was with his owners. It's really great that people are willing to work with disabled dogs like this.
If the dog is not in uncontrollable suffering, has a will to survive(and most do) then euthanization is a LAZY convenience for the HUMAN not the dog. Don't put the sorry for the dog argument, that's YOU(the human) being lazy.
My Einstein was 12 years old, didnt have any hip problems until arthitus in the last few years. It was managable but the last 2 months he couldnt go for long walks anymore, then the last few weeks he couldnt walk out the front door. We tried all those stupid gadgets and nothing worked. Eventually he stopped eating even when given a big steak.. His mind was still there his body wasnt.. So we had to make the tough choice.. thankfully our doctor does house calls.
@1ownjoo2 Did you also trie a dogwheelchair? My dog also stopped eating because he could not go outside anymore. He was so depressed. We where like: where broke now, but we are going to buy him the dogwheelchair and see if it works, if it does'nt where gonna have to put him to sleep. Since my dog has his wheelchair he started eating again and he was over the moon, because he could walk outside again.
@gnairSlimShady could'nt agree with you more. I have a dog in a wheelchair, that can't walk due to ilness. So many dogs get put to sleep because their owners find it "to expensive" or they are ashamed to walk with a dog with a wheelchair. Some people call me crazy for NOT putting my dog to sleep. My dog is so happy when playing/ walking in his wheelchair. I have him for thirteen years, he does not deserve to die without need. In oct. the vet said put him to sleep, well he's still alive now!
@Sluskarn We all have our limitations but who's to say that makes us want to die? If the dog was depressed (not eating, not wanting to move around, aggressive etc) then sure it would be cruel to keep him alive. Like people though, animals adapt (& far quicker).
@Sluskarn I dont see the dog crying or howling of pain!! what I see its a very Strong dog who has an wonderfull friend that would do everything to make his loyal partner Happy!!
but I understain that you probably don't like to see a Strong dog in that circumstances, nobody likes

Sad that he got so bad and died. Happy that his owners let him live a happy good life as long as it lasted.

Auggie was in the final stages of degenerative myelopathy - he passed on his own, in his owners arms.
