FMG want the Yinjibarndi group to sign a contract that gives up any future rights to manage their traditional lands in their own traditional ways .This wouldn't leave the Yinjibarndi group any governmental status over their land .Indigenous groups need to be given more polity in these arrangements.
Indigenous groups in Canada, the Cree and the Inuit are given greater governmental status whenever they negotiate any agreements for resource use with corporation on their traditional lands.This is because Canada has it written into their constitution that they recognise 'landed citizenship'- the Cree and Inuit notion that the land has the same rights and responsibilities as a citizen. for example The Cree said they want some parts of their forest untouched so they can still hunt in it.
