  • dont like that brass

  • it's shit like this that makes life worth living.

  • Blistering Baritone solo from Mr. Cuber. Was lucky enough to see CD and RC at Ronnie Scott's in London a few years ago with the Soul Survivors. Buddy WiIliams was on drums.

  • Mindblowing groove on the guitar, Mr Dupree. RIP.

  • RIP

I remember the Bitter End, and your music well!

  • RIP Cornell; I always loved you brother...TJ

  • RIP CORNELL DUPREE! You were one of a kind! Long Live the STUFF GUYS!

  • Cornell Dupree (born 1942 - died May 8, 2011) is an American R&B/soul jazz guitarist...

  • Groove city.

  • Man, I miss Richard Tee (keys). No one grooves like him.

  • this is some sexy music what a great groove

  • steve gadd plays so fucking simple and so fucking great!! its groove is fantastic..

  • The entire band just gives such an amazing groove that you just want to listen to over and over again

  • Ronnie Cuber it IS...:)

  • It gets fat and fat and fater!!

  • I always love Cornell Dupree's guitar playin...

  • Oh man, that guitar is painfully out of tune. Ouch!

  • the leather pants are a nice touch

  • peaceand love

  • very very nice ! ですね.

  • No one grooves like Gadd. All great musicians and defines FUNKY.

  • Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful

  • Outstanding stuff...

  • This is surely one of the best examples of musicians complementing each other whilst each being a master of his own instrument. Gaddzooks, the whole piece builds to the end of that sax solo at 5:21, then breaks down again, then Gadd nails it. Sheer brilliance.

  • I really like his openhanded groove, you can see it at 1:35 and 2:55 with ride on 4:41

  • my goddddddddddddddddddddddddd superlative groove !

  • @lukaz2212 I think you mean gaddddddddddddddddd

  • The bariton sax. is fantastic¡¡¡

  • LEGENDS ***** nothig beats real talent

  • Dudes just saw Gadd and Cuber 2 weeks ago. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Joey defrancesco on organ. Washington's Winelight nuff said....

  • This music give me a good feelin'!

    Rolf Hugo Hanssen

    Priest./rev.

    Bergen - Norway

  • ...goddamn, Cornell Dupree was a funky motherfucker... & Richard Tee... man, it just broke my heart when I found out he passed. What a beautiful musician & great wingman for Steve & the boys. This version of this song just makes my hair stand up every time.... awesome

  • absolute drumming legend...

  • Damn Steve

  • If I were gay, or Steve Gadd was a woman, oh man. Just try and hold me back. XD

he's a MONSTER player. one of my favs. This might be one of my favorite solos by hi of all time. just so.... mmmmmmmm.

  • concordo...

  • Gadd é o melhor !!

  • so fucking good !

  • I love the way the horn man bottoms out right after the five minute mark.

  • that horn man would be Ronnie Cuber

  • @ansyf125

    it is Ronnie Cuber...!

  • this is soo good, sounds great live, these guys actually look sober..too.

  • This is a great video. Wish Eric Gale was there with the guys. Steve was at his peak on drums I think by 1988. I love his ears and particularly his groove.

He has gotten locked in to his "pet" Gadd licks now though. As great as he is ( he was my favorite drummer in the late 70's) It seems he has quit growing as a drummer, choosing to stick with his patented licks.

Still though, one of the all time greats.

  • THANK you

  • with Gadd wearing this shitty mickey mouse t-shirt?? I love it soo much! please tell me in any way pm or comment.

  • /watch?v=Aw5Z4sEuWdU&feature=related

anyone knows the version of this concert???

  • saw this band at north sea at about this time.sat on the floor,in the middle a yard from the stage,at cornells feet.cuber was on my right.tee on my left.although I was there mainly to see dupree ,couldn't keep my eyes of tee.he was awesome, the heart of the band.

    I've never heard a tighter band.ever.

  • Count Ossie!!! Know thy roots......

  • Wow, that was really great!

  • who said bari?...u ever heard a bari ?=S

  • Yea I own one, but I dont sound like that!

  • This is one of my all time favorites, thanks for posting.

    Del

  • These guys are so good!

  • that guy looks powerful, man. Tall, suit wearing, bari playing. all he needs his like a really sweet mustache

  • Who's playin bari, sounds like ronnie cuber to me, possible a younger version of him?

  • you got it!

  • that's Cuber . . . circa 1985?

  • well assesed, 1988

  • Thanks for the heads up !! You've finally gotten me down from the ceiling, lol. Honestly, the first - and probably only version I've heard was by the Crusaders. What a sheltered life I've led.

  • I can't get enough of this, they had an incredible sound.

  • Cornell DuPree is the best!! I hope he's doing great!! Haven't seen him LIVE for years. Anyone know?? This is great. THANKS FOR POSTING!

  • this is a master sound!!

  • Cornell Du-Pree!

  • He's great, isn't he???? I used to see him perform LIVE at Mikell's in NYC. I miss that place. I hope Cornell is o.k.

  • This is why the Baritone sax is the coolest sax ever. Sweet sound, but when pushed hard it can sound really nasty (oh, and that's a good thing!). Ronnie shows us what this beast is capable of. I enjoyed this very much.

  • Before I watch this series of videos I didn't know that what a nice-looking guy, young Ronnie!!

  • Holy shit this guy has the best sound i've ever heard out of a bari sax. Crazy high altissimo notes into high tenor sax territory with a really cool growl. AWESOME!!

  • Wow... look how young Ronnie is! and thin! hehe... He is playing so smooth though, but you cant beat that bari sound... he probably hated this gig... playing over C7 the whole time... lame

  • try and construct a melodic solo like Ronnie's with only C7

  • I never said Ronnie was lame.... just the tune... his playing is smooth, but still good... cause.. its fuckin Ronnie!

  • Man....does this groove

  • Steve Gadd is the man!!! He's still great!! I miss seeing these guys LIVE.

  • Ronnie Cuber makes me happy in my pants...

  • Can anybody tell me if this song was written/performed by the Crusaders ? PLEEEZE !!! It's driving me crazy XD Thanx for sharing this. I LOVE this jam.

  • it was written by Phil Keaggey i think

  • I first heard this song in 1966 by the Crusaders. I think it had a couple of sax in the original.

  • Ronnie Cuber is the most awesome bari player. I wish I was that good. One day I'll be that good ;)

  • Love the sax!!!

  • Who wrote this?

  • Thanks... I'm gonna have to check that track out... what a great tune Can't wait to hear the lyrics, too

  • Ronnie Cuber is a bleeping monster !!!!!!!

Gadd, Dupree, Tee were THE NYC recording rhthym section in those days. Great stuff.

  • de la balle atomiqe pour tous les amoureux du groove !!! merci au gadd et a ses acolytes!!

  • Bring Back The Bottom Line!!

  • I don't think that is eddie gomez!!! what great showmanship!!! classic

  • stokes got it right . . . GET UP!! . . . and GET DOWN!!

  • don't understand how the audience can keep bums on seats.

  • wicked Steve Gadd the BEST, Richard Tee we miss you Cornel Dupree I learned a lot from your groove and feel keep on doing it maochung

  • That's grown folk music right there.

  • got a little funk goin on here - alright!

  • love that baritone sax

    ronnie cuber owns it!

  • Steve Gadd is tightest drummer ever!! Love his style

  • WOW, wonderful performance! I loved the drum solo and the sax solo, Ronnie Cuber makes a great sound. Please, UPLOAD more videos of Gadd Gang if you have them.

  • Yeah, i really hope Steve Gadd converts.. I love souless christian rock!

  • i mean that...i want steve gadd to become a christian too like vinnie..

  • I love the groove steve is playing here, a great solo too.

  • very nice

  • cool

  • The line up: Steve Gadd, drums; Ronnie Cuber, baritone sax; Eddie Gomez, bass; Cornell Dupree, guitar and Richard Tee, keyboards. The event: East Meets West which was a week-long stand at the Bottom Line in NYC's Greenwich Village sponsored by Columbia Records to showcase the label's Japanese and American jazz acts. I never knew it was caught on videotape.

  • Steve always plays with passion...he combines technique with emotion...he doesnt do over-the-top things.. he's very musical! everytime folks hear him, it makes them wanna dance...steve can make people happy!!

  • Yeahh!! God Bless Steve Gadd!! i pray he too will become a christian like vinnie colauita...

  • Keep praying you massive dork(ps. ask God to forgive me)

  • AMEN...

  • is that really gomez? doesn't look like him

  • Yes, that's really Eddie Gomez. He looks different because he doesn't have his mustacher here.

  • Yes, that's really Eddie Gomez. He looks different because he doesn't have a mustache here.
