A beautiful voice - Kate has written some of the saddest songs I've heard (My Young Man is possibly the most touching song I ever heard). I think you did this justice, although I've yet to hear her sing this live. Maybe later this year. With Kate, despite all these sad songs, she is quite the comedian.

Anyway, I think you have your own style on this and it perfectly suits the feeling of the song. Also your guitarist does it justice too. My compliments.

Thank you... it is a beautiful song and sadly I cannot answer your question as Kate does not say what inspired her. On the album (Awkward Annie) booklet it merely says K Rusby, no explanation, no trad so this makes me assume, yes, she wrote this one herself :-) I will look into it ...
