in such type of movies only fire is showed no outcomes never results are shown.Taliban can never be defeated by firing in air. They are just spoiling emonation
@SquattingBear01 *Afghanistan, and yes agreed. We can teach them from sun up until sun down but that wont do any good if they don't apply their training to real life situations. like this one.
@rmj2n especially if they go in the fight with useless metal rods. But I agree that in any situation like you boys are in (I am not a Soldier, yet) you better be cautious and ready to use what you've learn. Pardon, Afghanistan, was watching videos of in Iraq earlier that day.
@urbinam700 If you really THINK you'll find plenty of videos with their weapons jammed, so lets see, army with jammed guns vs the taliban. Durp it might be hard for them to stabilize and like stated from rm2jn they're not fully trained soldiers,
Would you get in trouble for using non NATO rounds in a combat situation like this? And did you see a lot of action as a combat engineer? I am enlisting and I want to be a combat engineer, but if I join would I get to experience combat? Or not so much?
@Jstfm1 Non Nato rounds? Its against the Geneva Convention and our laws of war. As an Engineer whether or not you see combat depends on who you support because we are a support element. I supported grunts; grunts fight so I got to fight too. Weve had engineers support LAR, snipers, etc.you name it. But if you get stuck supporting a logistics bn or an air wing you can forget about combat. Its just not going to happen. Forget the big bases, its the small pb's like this one that fight the war.
@rmj2n Thanks for the reply and info man! I really appreciate it, was it crazy over there? I plan on enlisting in October, would you recommend Combat Engineer as an MOS? But thanks again man for the info and for your service!
@Jstfm1 Yeah it was pretty bad and as long as we continue to stay on the offensive and take ground from the Taliban it will stay that way. I would only recommend enlisting as a combat engineer if you like playing with IEDs and carrying a ton of gear.
@rmj2n Damn, that sounds crazy. Do you know how much longer they want you guys there? And I wanted to be a Combat engineer because I want to experience the demolition side and the explosions as well as be along side infantry. How much weight was the gear you guys had to carry?
@Jstfm1 The demo is fun, no doubt. I love it. Not too sure how long well still be in Afghanistan. Chances are if you havent enlisted yet; by time you do and are at your duty station well be out of there and probably some where else. If I estimated how much our gear weighed just bare minimums like water, ammo, armor, etc; would probably be around 50 -65 lbs.
@rmj2n It looks pretty bad ass, as a combat engineer did you have to do EOD jobs as well? I plan on enlisting around late October early November. That's crazy patrols must have been rough for the first few days, I was think of training with a weighted back pack on the tred to help bring up my stamina. When you go to Engineer school do they let you pick what type of engineer job you want or it is all the same?
@Jstfm1 Yeah it was pretty intense. Its hard for me to admit or imagine but it was worse in other areas. The Taliban aren't afraid to bring the fight to you. They know they're not as well equipped as we are. That's why they use IEDs (The cause of 85-90% or our casualties). I saw good Marines die and get hurt, that's the hardest part. I was fine fighting all day but as soon as we lost a guy it just kind of kills you inside. It sucks but the fight goes on...
