  • Number 1 was also sampled by Mos Def and Talib Kweli in their Tony Touch freestyle, just throwin it out there

  • Man these are fun to listen to. I like finding out what those samples are. One of my favorites that you haven't mentioned in any of your videos is a great song (both versions) called "Changes" by Tupac, original being a great Bruce Hornsby - The Way It Is.

Please tell me you'll include this on your next one! :)

  • idk if anyone hs noticed but i remember when your back wall was just a single poster of the united states.. look at it now..

    :]

  • Here's one you forgot so far...

    Kleeer - Tonight :)

"sampled" in full by Dj Quick tonite and some others. It's one of my favorites.

  • I was just reading that RAMP doesn't stand for "Roy Ayers Music Project". A quote from the band leader, John Manuel:

"The name actually refers to taking you on a journey, elevation, as in an on or up ramp, an access to another place as in highway ramps. It, contrary to some belief, does not mean Roy Ayers Music Production, though that fits the acronym."

  • California Soul was also used in the Dockers commercial. Marlena Shaw has a nice voice.

  • OH Snap! the meters yeah!

  • What up DJ Funktuall. I went through all your sampling videos and saw no DJ QUIK!!! Don't get me wrong loved your videos.. DJ Quik and Suga Free used a lot of CAMEO samples..maybe you can figure out some of their songs?

  • doo wa ditty is crazy banana big daddy doggie - i didnt think you could do it again - but you took it back

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

  • #9 is also sampled in "IG off & hazardous - in the air"

  • Thanks for a great year of all the origins of breaks amd beats and samples. Real big fan Funktuall and I want more!

  • keep em comin! i always enjoy the tracks and the enthusiastic presentation.

I have a request though, since you are a DJ and have a better sense of what's out there, can you do reviews of current and upcoming albums?

These days it's hard to keep track of artists in the underground world. So for eg. can you do like your "Top 10 albums of the 08"?

you're gonna run out of samples anyways, so why not broaden your material :P

  • I used to spin break beats and samples on Philly's clear channel radio, but you have to have your own show all on your personality! You are fuuuuunny...

  • haha jurassic park

  • That California Soul is a great track.

I Would've been surprised if it wasn't sampled.

    -Welcome 2009-

  • THANK YOU!

  • wow!!!!

    thats all i can say!!!

    awesome!!!

  • Watching all the Volumes in this series, i'm surprised that you haven't done "Keep On Truckin'" by Eddie Kendricks yet, where the instrumental bridge in the middle of the song seems to be sampled alot these days (Most notably in "Lights, Camera, Action" by Mr. Cheeks)
