  • maybe you need more practice to get the singing out clear and loud but your guitar playing is amazing!

    wonderful music!

can you tell more of the historical background that sets the background for this song?

  • @MagicalSunrise1984 : There were about 150 years of religious wars in Europe, especially in Germany in the time between roughly 1500 and 1650. One of the major ocurrences was the Peasant's revolt. Just look up "German Peasant's War" on Wikipedia if you are interested in further details. This song is being said to having evolved out of that era. A priest is being taunted on for trying to seduce a peasant's wife and getting beaten up by the peasant.

  • @reverendbecker

    thanks!

  • Whats the name of this song? I like your playing and singing. Alot better then I could do if I tried to sing in German while playing.

  • @Diesloanen "Es wollt' ein Bauer früh aufstehen" (Something like: "A farmer rising early in the morning")

  • i love that although this song is somewhat 400 years old, you still play it beautifully

  • Titel?

  • @Ingo64 Es wollt' ein Bauer früh aufsteh'n

  • @Ingo64 Es wollt' ein Bauer früh aufstehn

  • Very nice. Don't let people not understanding the difference between the god of Abraham and a priest get you frustrated.

  • I'm sure your singin' is good. It's just not loud enough.

  • I think it is super!!! Love it all the way!!!

  • Yes it is authentic and no, it is not "very poor" and no, the text is not "absolutely senseless and vulgar" and it is not disrespecting religion at all. You should learn that there is a difference between faith in god and the church and it`s representatives. The song is about a priest, not about religion and it reflects the background of the religius wars of that priod.

  • beautiful, just amazing!

  • Nice - can you redo a better video quality?

  • what is the name of this song?

  • Es wollt' ein Bauer früh aufsteh'n

  • Amazing guitar playing!

  • Tolles Picking, toller Gesang, toller Sound!

  • This song is about a priest not about the Lord. Priests are men despite some of them claim to act on behalf of God. But they are men and as men they fail.

  • @reverendbecker

how lovely it is to be a woman

everybody were talking about the priest and god and the church,

but of the woman - not a word!

    :D

  • @MagicalSunrise1984: Very much true indeed.

  • Awsome plucking! Looking forward to tighter camera view and sound. Your singing does not suck.

  • I like it! Do you have any German folk artists/bands you could recommend?

    All the best!

  • Wir sind Helden (just type these words into the YouTube search) or Hannes Wader, Werner Lämmerhirt, Zupfgeigenhansel

  • I've never heard anything about that song. Is it really a 16th century song or is it actually more modern?

And, even more important: Is there already a "better" version with regard to your singing as you promised?

  • The song is that old but I did my own guitar arrangement in DADGAD and this arrangement may sound modern.

  • seehr gut! :)

  • I think its good, because i understand some german thats all!

If u dont like it, ok, but i do like it :)

  • search for "GRANNY CAREY - DIE LORELEI" (it's fantastic!!!)

  • I always beat priests and other such holy men. Let them work for bread

  • You have to see that the song can be traced back to a time when Martin Luther and the prtestants seceded from the roman catholoc church wich marked the beginning of 100 Years or wars in Europe called the "religious wars".

I believe it was fashionable to ridicule priests in those days.

  • For Protestants, it is still fashionable to do so. let the catholic priests work to keep a house.

I did not die only once, Ja es ist mir scheon wieder...Eine Ameirikann!

  • Jesus Christ, waddya mean ? It consists of german vocabulary but does not make any sense.

  • name of song?

  • "Ein Bauer wollte früh aufstehn" or "Es wollt ein Bauer früh aufstehn". Meaning: "A Farmer rising early morn . . ." or something like that.

  • your singing is quite ok too....

  • woow...brilliant picking...

    holy cow...Lmao @ the lyrics

  • hahaa

  • Sehr gut gemacht herrlich sie können sich selbst auf die schulter klopfen *lach* wirklich gut

  • The Germans invented bluegrass?

  • You are not going to tell me that my recording is bluegrass, will you ? This is fingerstyle in DADGAD tuning, whilst any bluegrasser I jam with hates open tunings and plays with a flatpick.

  • I was under the impression that lots of southern/bluegrass styles were with open tuning.

  • That's totally 16th century Holy Roman Empire bluegrass.

  • Exactly, quite rightly.

  • TOP, eins meiner Lieblingslieder, supersaubere Spielweise ich bin platt..

  • Das war sehr gut. Wo kann ich diese lernen?

  • wow.. nice :D

  • What song is this? I really like the way you play it. And your singing doesn't suck, it actually fits the song.

  • It is called "es wollt ein bauer früh aufstehn". It can be found in an old collection of songs and instrumentals from 1480, the "Glogauer Liederbuch". There are some adaptions by different folk musicians.

  • Nonsense, the guitar sounds great

  • Einfach nur großartig- wenn ich Abends in´ner Kneipe säße und jemand diesen Song zocken würde- das wär´s, der Laden wär´meiner. ;) Weiter so!

  • da sima dabei^^

  • ...dat is prima! ;)

  • schön das wir uns einig sind XD

  • Hehe, danke schön. Lustig. Erinnert mich an Hannes Waders plattdeutsche Lieder :)

  • yes it does sound very good :)

  • It sounds very well, congratulation ¡
