I totally agree with aryanaaa - just saw this play this weekend and she was indeed amazing, and sounded better in person than on this recording, and on top of it, she is an amazing actress - fabulous. I really loved this song and she did it really well - my favorite from the show.

Watched the show last night. Beautiful voice, beautiful face, beautiful acting, but the transition to and from belting is not as smooth as could be. Also, when she matches a particular movement to a certain word in the lyric, which she does A LOT during the song, it looks quite forced.

She was fantastic. When she paused before finishing out the song, you could see her face fall and oh man, it was powerful.

Its a really amazing show. And there was something incredibly enchanting about her. She pulled the audience along with her more than any of the other actors. Haha, I was embarrassed when I realized that my facial expressions where reflecting her's. Haha.

I just saw this two days ago - her performance was absolutely amazing, definitely one of the highlights of the show. I was sitting 3rd row and could see everything perfectly. I got instant goosebumps when she belted out that '...and a person should celebrate everythiiiiiiiing...' at the end. Love Leigh Ann Larkin!

@aryanaaaaa an great point while you sound might not be the best she does perform very well and when i first heard the gyspy soundtrack i was like wtf is this but when i saw her perform it all made sense and fit very well into the character ! its not just about the singing but the performance of the actor thats what theatre is.

her performance has changed considerably since this recording. she is a lot more subtle now. i think the bad reviews about her being over the top encouraged a tweak in her performance. when i saw her in the show, her "miller's son" was a lot more fluid and natural.

She's not earthy enough for this role. Sounds like she's pushing the emotion too hard. And I don't like how she sings "Meanwhiiile" in that nasally, heldback tone.

I really loved Larkin in GYPSY, and I wish I could like her in this, but she's just miscast.
