Very focused voice, solid performance. This aria must have been performed and recorded more than any other Baroque aria. Because the role is male, I prefer high quality male voices such as Andreas Scholl; however, it is sung mostly by women because of the high tessitura. Unfortunaely, many voices are inappropriate because of heavy vibrato and very loose vocal technique. Too many singers and listeners can not discern the difference.
This must be one of the best versions ever recorded.
