Madison fire as a volunteer department is possible as long as ems runs on its own and stays full time or paid on call. However, Madison is much better off the way it is now. And as far as the 60k right off the bat, im pretty sure thats an over-statement. If im not mistaken last i knew it was around 45k, but dont hold me to my word on that one.

you guys need to stop complaining about paid firefighter the do the same things as a volunteer they risk their lives most guys are not in it for the pay anyways

I would like to see Madison as a "volunteer" department there is no way. With that said I would also like to see you do the same as firefighters who train everyday when on duty.

Fire fighters in Madison make 60K right off the bat and when they aren't away from their job (most of their lifes) they are lying around, sleeping and farting in the beds at work.

We need to go back to the days when firefighting was a volunteer job.
