Than he turned himself into a demon in order to defeat Tichondrius and stop the corruption of the forests. And also in frozen throne he would have destroyed icecrown thus eliminating the lich king threat if it wasnt for his brothers medling.
Illidan needed power to defeat the lich king, so he absorbed and consumed the eye's of sargarus. This is the reason he was banished from the night elve's.
But yeah, he turned from demon hunter to Demon, after he consumed the eye.

I think Illidan is best warcraft character even over Arthas, coz he has unique personality. He's not a good guy, but neither a villain. honestly, to the gameplay videos and my own experience of doing these raids, 10m or 25m i think illidan was a lot more stressful than the lich king but in the general sequence they were both quite easy. WITH A GOOD GROUP OF COURSE!

They should bring them out for ages so that players seriously anticipate their kill.

@TheV3RM1N mate outland dungeons got nerfed in patch 3.0, if you go on wowiki and look at illidan stormrage tactics i'm pretty sure they have the original tactics from BC, and it was a tough tough fight for many guilds. And might i add more enjoyable that the lichqueen encounter (lol) .

Live action wouldn't be as near as good as CGI. If there's going to be a Warcraft movie then they should base it off the storyline of Warcraft 3, about the rise of the Undead Scourge, Prince Arthas, the Night Elves and Illidan/Malfurion, the Burning Legion and all the rest. A movie about a completely new storyline set in WoW timeline would be completely boring and stupid in my opinion. The movie should be based off the original, and in CGI so it fits with the warcraft story modes.
Fuck CGI, you need people in Tauren costumes, good fighting, in the same sense as LotR. CGI is used by boring people with low budget, Blizzard does NOT have a low budget, but i agree about Warcraft III story line, one of, if not the best, including Frozen Throne and its ending.
I have to agree with this. Every video game movie that's been made in live action has been a total disaster. I think if they used really good CGI like they did in the WotLK cinematic trailer then it would be really awesome.

I don't think they ruined his character. Illidan wanted to help felwood, but was screwed by Arthas. Malfurion banished his brother from the forest. Illidan tried to explain, but his dumbshit brother did not listen. It was a great plot twist.

And, in reality, saving the forest was probably just a convenient side affect for him, he really just wanted the power of the Skull of Gul'Dan.
On the other hand, I doubt he had any malicious intent when he took the skull. He says himself at the end of the Night Elf Campaign in Frozen Throne that he's not interested in conquest or death, just magic.

He put demon souls in his eye, then he's blind , but gain the power of demons (and seeing with the soul). but the NE thought he's evil then abandoned him. later illidan got defeated by Arthas, now he's very angry(powerful) but a little nuts
Illidan sort-of double-crossed the NE when Sargeras tried to invade the first time, by joining in with the Burning Legion. However, later he revealed that he wasn't siding with them at all, he just pretended like it.
However, he was imprisoned for trying to create a new Well of Eternity at the top of Mount Hyjal.

Blizzard should make 3 series of movies all about the events of Warcraft 3. It would be sweet if blizz made it all a cg movie just like the game's cinematics, like how that new Beowolf movie was all cg.

I don't think they ruined his character. Illidan wanted to help felwood, but was screwed by Arthas. Malfurion banished his brother from the forest. Illidan tried to explain, but his dumbshit brother did not listen. It was a great plot twist.

I meant they ruined him in World of Warcraft, not Frozen Throne.
And, in reality, saving the forest was probably just a convenient side affect for him, he really just wanted the power of the Skull of Gul'Dan.
On the other hand, I doubt he had any malicious intent when he took the skull. He says himself at the end of the Night Elf Campaign in Frozen Throne that he's not interested in conquest or death, just magic.

Yes. I strongly believe Illidan is misunderstood... He killed Naisha and tried to kill the Warden because they wouldn't leave him alone. Technically, he is the bad guy, but it's still so sad that he was betrayed by his Night Elf companions they didn't help him with his addiction :(

Indeed. They need to do a series like lord of the rings, but only in CGI, and they need to keep the production under blizzard's team, if hollywood happens to get their hands on WoW they ll ruin the story.

no u dumb asses, illidan was trying to save his race(NE) when it was originally invaded by demons. He put demon souls in his eye, then he's blind , but gain the power of demons (and seeing with the soul). but the NE thought he's evil then abandoned him. later illidan got defeated by Arthas, now he's very angry(powerful) but a little nuts

Illidan sort-of double-crossed the NE when Sargeras tried to invade the first time, by joining in with the Burning Legion. However, later he revealed that he wasn't siding with them at all, he just pretended like it.
However, he was imprisoned for trying to create a new Well of Eternity at the top of Mount Hyjal.

Illidan was a power hunfgry night elf who pormised to help the legion in the war against the night evles if they gave him power, sargeras took his eyes and replaced them with them weird flaming greeen things u see sumtimes :P he was trapped bla bla he got free consumed skull and got all demony, kil'jaeden made him work for him, with thrreats of his death, kiljaeden wanted his creation (lich king) dead, so he made illidan go try n kill him. n failed :P now he mental XD

Btw, when some people say Kael'thas is a traitor, who do you mean he betrayed? Sure he betrayed the alliance - but who can blame him? it was only to save his people. Now he's betraying Illidan and working with the legion, so i guess that's what you mean.

Of course do i know that. But what i mean is that he was a good guy before he was deafeated by Arthas on the icecrown citadel.. he tried to save his people by killing Arthas and he was trying to destroy the scourge. But when he got "killed" by Arthas, he became mad. And btw, he was blind before he consumed the Skull of Gul'dan
