try deflating your ball down a bit and gradually you get used to hitting something. this means later on pump your ball up gradually. once you can strike balls normally then the next step is with bear feet, but this tends to be sore at first, hitting with bear feet gives you more confidence and power to strike the ball(this method is optional), this is what i did when the top of my foot hurt and around the toe area hope this helps, if it doesnt you might need to see a doctor

You may be lacing your foot to tight, it'll cause you blood to not travel to your toes sufficiently and will cause blood to rush down when you strike. Try not tying your shoes as tight.

I found out that shooting with toes is the fastest way to get to the ball. Inside the penalty area, if you use another part of your foot to shoot, you would have to raise your leg, but that would give the defenders time to block your shot.
