It's funny about traditions from around the world that are transplanted in an odd way. We have a lot of "German" Christmas traditions here in Pennsylvania that would leave the average German shaking their head too!
St. Patrick's Day in the United States is another good example ... not the same thing at all in Ireland :)

Christmas in Australia on a scorching summers day, Hey! Lol. We have a huge lunch with all different types of meat, salads and vegies instead of a huge dinner. For the next few days its usually leftovers :)
