Can't believe I found this song. OK....had a bachlorette party at my pad and played this song over and over while the male stripper(s) danced. I seem to recall there wasn't a piece of furniture or friend that the strippers didn't mount! hehehe
Brings back lots of 70's/80'smemories...Didn't realize how many hits Peter Brown made..I danced/rollerskated to all them in a funky/freestyle ...without caring who was watching..freedom of expression ruled .Am a Asian man who remembers a lot of fun times back then!
Thank you so much for posting this!!!!! It's been about a thousand years....But as soon as I heard the intro beat, I remembered it. God bless the old disco days...
I sure will CRANK IT UP.. what a throw back from those GOLDEN DISCO DAYS.. what a SMOKIN TUNE.. keep em comin @WarEagle041... your collection is FANtastic...Peace..Port!
One of many hits from him that I like! Thanks for posting the extended version (:>). Came at a time when hollywood was making films about street gangs like "boulevard nights", "walk proud", and of course "The Warriors" gang movie was released. It reminds me of the film and everytime I hear this song, I often wondered how cool it would of been to use this song for the opening credits. It kind of has a street gang vibe to it.
Awesome! This early 1979 song was a bit more obscure than his huge 1978 Hit Dance With Me but it is great. I heard this more in the clubs than on the radio back then.
'79 was a great year for transition from 70's disco-ball style, do the hustle disco to more electronic, long-play single, rap/new wave/post-disco sounds crankin, led to some even funkier music from 80-86.
WOW!! I haven't heard this in 30 years!! Thanks for bringing back memories of nights at Sporters in Boston. I lived on Beacon Hill, and crawled home from Sporters more than one night. YOU da man!! Keep 'em comming. Thank you again!
I think Crank It Up came out in the early 80's. Peter Brown had the very first GOLD 12" single with "Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me" in the late 70's.
Great tune! It reminds me of all the parties we used to have every weekend at my friends' house or mine. It brings a lot of good memories! Thanks for posting it.
OMG I love this jam, I remember it when I was a kid...Chinita remember the Holy Ghost dance LOL great memories. Where our clubbing started...LOL...don't 4get the dress pants with the chinese collar blouses & the chinese slippers...LOL
