NO! A thousand times NO! This isn't a "mental" trick. It is a trick you do on paper. In the time it takes to use this "trick," you could have simply multiplied the numbers out on paper.
Add that to the fact that this "trick" does not reinforce the IDEAS behind multiplication of large numbers, and you've got something that does far more harm than good.
that is really fascinating - and has made a lot of people (sadly not the person who commented below) about how it works, what you do with zeros, and so on. YouTube is fab isn't it!
