  • @kevinparadisdrummer do you prefer the weight of the iron cobra beaters over the stock ones? i got the trick pedal too and and they do feel a little lighter

  • HI @drummerrz ! Yeah absolutely.

  • you struggle baaaaad on anything fast kickwise.

  • Btw your drum kit sounds fucking amazing, just like tits.

  • if we don't mind the double bass you've done a pretty damn good cover :) good job dude!

  • holy shit man..props for real.

shannon lucas is not an easy drummer to come close to imitating..

    long live bdm

  • if you like this, check animaofficial @ FB

  • WTF ?! u got Eclipse 0.0

  • What is your ride cymbal? It sounds nice

  • Nice drumming but you should pay a little more attention to your double bass playing! It sounded a bit off at times. Excellent playing otherwise, kicks ass!

  • Great cover man! But I think your missing some snare hits during the chorus? Pretty sure theres ment to be a triplet or two in there if I recall correct. Either way awesome shit man!

  • Nice "live" drum tone!

  • PEACE

  • awesome cover, dude! Your drums sound fucking awesome, too. great job!

  • How long have you been playing?

    [:

  • what types of cymals are you using? pls respond?

  • Great cover mate, I always keep an icepack around for my right calf muscle after playing Shannon's drums.

  • My favorite song from ritual! You are a fucking great drummer! Love this video! :)

  • para tener todo ese equipo deberia salirte perfecto. pero noto que el doble pedal no te sale al 100% ... buen video!

  • You are a good drummer but I would strongly suggest work on your double bass. It just seems like its not as even as it should be or sometimes doesn't start out as strong. But other than that keep it up! Good drumming!!

  • im in the process of covering this song, any tips on endurance? because usually by 2:48 my right shoulder starts to give out.

  • Hi @InsertNameHere500 ! Maybe you don't enough use your finger and your wrist. Even is Shannon Lucas is a kickass drummer, I think he use to much his arm (it's the same thing for Alex Pelletier). Other drummer don't use enough their arms, so you have to find a use as much as possible your arms, but also your finger and your wrist. Try to do long period of stroke at 220 bpm (like 2min non-stop). If it is to hard, try to do long period at 200 or 180 bpm.

  • @kevinparadisdrummer ya i can use my fingers and i practice on one hand sometimes, but when im playing, i dont know why, i just cant use my fingers. but thanks for the advice!

  • @InsertNameHere500 - If you are able to do 2min at 180bpm, and not at 200 or 220, try to do 5min at 180, then 3min at 200, and finally 2min at 220. Also don't forget to practice one hand only.

  • @InsertNameHere500 stop jacking off so much

  • @xXZOMBIE666Xx lol, youre so funny

  • JESUS PLAYS DRUMS!?!?! :D this is a fuckin awesome cover dude!! [:

  • don't get me wrong this is fucking amazing. but you need to work on your transitions

  • dude epicness -bows down to u- how did u make ur bassdrum or kicker sound so clean?? it sounds perfect, keep drumming dude \m/

  • Dude...you look like a pirate with that epic beard.

  • sweet snare

  • Fuck yes!

  • See..... Jesus loves metal :)

  • very good man !!!

  • Great cover! It takes a really solid drummer to cover Black Dahlia.

  • fucking nice!!!

  • Paiste RUDE eclipse 24"mega power ride?

  • Hi @dimmudrums75 ! Yes it is a eclipse 24" mega power ride !

  • @kevinparadisdrummer thats a sick power ride! youre sick! awesome!

  • All Paiste?! I love your cymbals especially your monster ride Eclipse!!

  • Nice cover man, keep rocking. \m/

  • great blast dude!

  • Little tip! Don´t hit the Paiste Flanger Bell on the part where it goes up! It will crack really fast! Myne brock that way! I loved this cymbal so much it was fuckin looouuud!

  • Hi @Kevinkoch2443 ! Yes it is a fantastic cymbal ! Mine is a second hand one, and don't worry about it ! I've this cymbal since three years now !

  • WHY the fuck do people think TRIGGERS r bad?? THEY r for concerts and shit so people can HEAR your dam drums.....DUHHHH!!!!! people r retarded!!! its like a LOUD ASS sterio for your drums.

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD I don't think that trigger are bad....Trigger don't allowed certain kind of drumming, and that I why I don't use trigger. In the music I play everyday, with my band, trigger should not be very great. Remember that it's a cover video, not a video of my music. I totaly understand people whom use trigger, but I prefer using microphones. In fact, I'm happy with the fact that I play my drums, and not some sample.

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD Moreover, you can made a very good drums sound, in concert, without any trigger. Using trigger in order to make the sound is just easier. The last thing is that with trigger, you don't need to give a lot of power to your beater, so it's easier to play. I just think that it's a good challenge to play without trigger, and to include some groove part in your drumming, and that's not possible with trigger. But that's only MY way of playing drums, not the only way.

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD To conclude, I want to say that trigger can be very useful. It's really a great tool, but today I prefer using microphone, for the reason I said.

  • @kevinparadisdrummer Well said! I really prefer a natural bass drum over the weird electronic sound of triggers.

  • Hi ItalianAvalanche ! Yes sometime it is hard to find a good trigger sound. But you know, today you have some really great trigger sound, and also, some trigger sound are very jazzy ! I've hear about Jazz drummer whom use trigger ! Well I don't use trigger also because I like my bass drum... it's a Pearl Masterwork, and I want to use it !

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD Not really. No one ever has trouble hearing bass drums at a concert. They use them mainly to have a more uniform sound. Especially with very fast double bass some hits of the drum won't be as hard as others and it won't sound as nice. Triggers won't make you a better drummer but it will sound a bit cleaner.

  • Hi @Scottdvz ! You're right... It is hard to keep your drumming clean without trigger. But I really want to keep a great dynamic range, and a great sound range, that's why I don't use trigger, and that's why I work a lot to clean up my double bass drum without trigger, and in a acoustic context.

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD Also what drum mics are for?

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD because they dont give real sound which you produce

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD because they don´t know shit about playing drums and think that triggers make you faster. i tried to tell the people that the shit you play has to be played at the bpm you can hear on the album, with or without triggers. they don´t get it...

  • Hi @NeAerA90 ! I agree with that, but your forget that without trigger, you have to play with a constant power, and to take care of your sound. It mean that you can"t set your beater near to the drumhead for example. I completely respect the work and the drumming of guy whom use trigger (if their kind of drumming justify to use trigger), but it's a little harder to play without trigger.

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD plus if you use triggers its harder to play because if u fuck up you can hear it ...

so i agree with you 110%

  • @BustYourBallsMetalXD RIGHT? xD If people think drum triggers are cheating, I guess so are guitar effects? Some people these days..

  • @vengance9888 Definitively, you don't understand what we are saying about trigger. It's not a matter of saying it is bad... You can have both a good sound with mic and trigger.... If a sound engineer can't have a good sound with a mic, he is'nt a good sound engineer. I'm not against trigger, but I prefer to use a mic for the reason I've ever said. Trigger is something that make the sound for you, and something that erase all mistake link to the power, so yes, it is a great tool.

  • fuck a critic dude you killed this shit as far as i'm concerned

  • dood i swear everytime i want to hear moonlight equilibrium i prefer this video over the original its just amazing wat skills u got!

  • dude you are a fucking BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sick ass cover dude

  • @Apokolipse however, your first comment said a few weeks ago, so I think he might of been confused

  • Where is that organpart at the end from ;o!?

  • people the cd was only released about 3 weeks ago and you are judging him playing a song by one of the most intense drummers out there? give the mann a break he did brilliant!

  • @Apokolipse It was actually released early this year >_>

  • @Pokemaniac9510 ummmm no, it wasnt. it was released on june 21st. only a few months ago. please get your facts straight before trying to argue, only making an ass of yourself. ty and have a good day

  • @Apokolipse Well, I bought mine in April from Karma(:

  • Are these Trick Pro-1V Bigfoot pedals?

  • what are you people his drum teacher lay oaff good shit man

  • great job meetalhead fast and heavy!

  • zeus...? i've never heard the song before this, but this cover is awesome.

  • the first fill is wrong..

  • could be tighter. went a bit to fast at some parts but better then i could do and your obviously good.

what are you doing with you right hand for the beats at :20? it looks like it saves a shit load of energy

  • @KingerThunder french grip and it does, and it enhances your ability to go much faster than in standardized

  • It's almost as if Ryan Knight had a different beard, and played drums instead of guitar in TBDM...this would be him :0

  • Nice cover. What kind of pedals are you using? tbdm ftw!

  • Nice Paiste combo! So glad they brought the 2002 series back. I recommend a 22 NOVO if you ever want to get another cymbal addition - best cymbal I ever played for mellower, smoother and richer china sounds.

  • yeahhhhhhh sick as fuck !

  • Very nice cover. The only reason im watching this is because i discovered this band 1 day ago and i decided i wanted to cover this song. I'm just here to check out the competition :P. Could be tighter, but really good effort bro!

  • hey dude what brand and model heads do u usually use, i tried power strokes from remo but i didnt really like them

  • Gotta love those Paistes.

  • those are awesome pedals. what are they?

  • @ImmortalSpammer trick bigfoots

  • nice one foot blast 2:37

  • nice one foot blast

  • you kick ass. and your snare sounds like sex.

  • Last time I gave an "awesome" was like two years ago, great job man!!! you have totally rocked on!!

  • What kind of head is on the snare?

  • Hi @MakeMeInfamous421 ! It is a aquarian hi energy.

  • @kevinparadisdrummer I knew it! Haha I have the exact one! It's too amazing :3 the pop you can get out of it

  • I can make that part of turning on the laptop, wearing the headphones and sitting there. That's all.

  • i wanted to say that it's a good cover but you should practise the fast double bass parts, but you beards is just so fuckin epic that i have no right to say anything against the video

  • @hardcoreoma in fact you shouldnt have said anything, you would been have better off....now you made yourself look like an ignorant fuck :]

considering, the album has only been out what, 2 months? hes still better than you.

unless you have a video response? not everyone hes shannon lucas cocksmooch

  • Comment removed

  • @immortallic666 did i say the video is bad ? no, he really did a good job, it's just the foot practising just like me (and others too) said.

so why calling me an ignorant fuck ? for giving the man some honest and sincere critic and a compliment about his awsome (!) beard ? and giving a critic has not to say that i'm better, my god, first think then write but yeah, maybe i'll upload a cover too in a few months

  • good hand technique, awesome one foot blast , sloppy double bass,

overall: quite good cover, but practise foot timing

  • Hmm i like this vid otherwise, but the way you take a "pause" for the bass pedals at the speed parts kinda bugs me, it breaks the rhytmh and makes it sound half-way done... are you still practicing your footwork or why is it so?

  • how would you recommend setting up your bass pedals for music like this, and how much was the rack

  • Hi @NoktemAeternus ! For the bass drum pedal, it depend of the tempo you want to reach, and if you use trigger. If you want to reach tempo like 280bpm (and on period of 4bar and more), you will need spring tight at maximum and beater at 15/19cm from the drumhead, with trigger or without trigger. If you want to reach tempo like 230bpm with trigger, I think you don't need to set the beater at 15/19cm, but you can set it at 8/12cm.

  • @kevinparadisdrummer thanx for the advice dude =D

  • @kevinparadisdrummer

hm, i can never find a comfortable setting on my pedals, so thanks for the ideas.ill play with them later and see if it helps any.

  • @kevinparadisdrummer Not true. If you wanna play on extreme tempos i think the only thing you need is a direct drive pedal and a fairly tight spring. And your double bass is not really tight, sorry!

  • Well I think you have just not understand what I mean... I you want to play extrem tempo on short period you are'nt forced to use the hardest setting. For example, Alex Pelletier can play short period at 280bpm, and he set his beater near to the bass drum head. Also, be sure that I agree with you : to play long period at 280, and without trigger, it is necessary to have tight spring and a beater at 15/20cm from the drum head.

  • To conclude, my setting are very hard, springs tight at maximum etc... but I know that I need more practice. Trick pedal are harder to play than Axis (but they have more power) and I don't use trigger, so for me, it is a little harder to play fast. It is a great challenge, and be sure that I will practice a lot, until my double bass drum become tight !

    Have a good gay !

  • @kevinparadisdrummer Same for me. I use Axis pedals, and during one winter of practice and now i have been practicing very hard and it really comes fast with the time. I'd bet my max speed is around 220-230bpm now and before that i barely did any DB at all. I tried to play with max tightened springs for a while, but i felt it was sloppy and tried to put my springs to 50% tension and it was like clockwork. Try it yourself!

  • @sebbimon Yeah sometimes it help to use softer setting. My right foot can play 8 bar at 250bpm, but my left have some problem even at slower tempo like 200 (and it became really hard at 220), and that why my double bass drum is not very tight on this video, but I'm working hard on my left foot, and I hope I will be able to play 8bar double bass drum at 250 in about two month.

  • If your are playing without trigger, you will need to set the beater at 15cm minimum, in order to have enough power to make the bass drum sound great. My rack is a Pearl rack, I don't know exactly how much it is in this configuration, but something around 350€

  • @kevinparadisdrummer sweet, thanks for the reply. Really enjoy your videos, your day of morning cover was fantastic. Was trick your first choice of direct drive?

  • Hi @BurnThePope0514 ! No, my first choice was Axis longboard double pedal, but they had not enough power to play without trigger. Also, it was not reliable ! Trick pedals are a little more difficult to play, but they had more power, so it is perfect to play without trigger, and to keep some nuance in your playing.

  • Those toms have massive depth for mounted. What dimensions?

  • Hi @BurnThePope0514 ! My toms are 12*12, 13*13, 14*14, and 16*16.

  • What china is that?

  • Hi @sempthegreat ! It is a Paiste signature reflector thin china 18".

  • @kevinparadisdrummer Thanks bro. Keep on going :).

  • Awesome camera views. Can you do warheart by cob please,

  • Kevin, you guys are brutal<3 i can't wait to see you guys when you come down to florida for summer slaughter. I'm totally going to smoke you guys out.

    Sincerely, Alexx

  • i dont like this cover at all! try to play more original if you do a COVER!!!!! and your doublebass work sucks aswell!

  • @maikweinhardt stfu. nobody starts out perfect. to sit here and say he sucks really pisses me off. fuck you. without people trying to learn there would be no metal. and its hard to learn when people sit there saying you suck. you sounds like a stuck up little pric. stfu cause you couldnt do any better. now go suck your own little dick and shut your mouth. fag

  • in tents... like kids at camp

  • this guys gets it...look at his shoes...THE pefect drum shoes in my opinion :P

    and ofc...great cover ^^

  • I smell a Chris Adler fan :0 Great cover, digging the quality. You could probably tune ur snare a bit lower, but then it's harder to blast so :P

  • Never knew jesus plays drums

  • drum triggers?

  • Hi @xbulldog12x ! I never use trigger

  • Hey, man, great video; great drummer. Keep up the great videos (good choice of music ^^) Just wanted to ask you how long did it take you to get to thos double bass speeds? Thanks, hope you reply. :3

  • Hi @SackBoy105 ! I've a double bass drum pedal for 3 years, but I have started to work hard on my double bass drum playing since last summer.

  • @kevinparadisdrummer Thanks for replying, man, and wow. You've gone far in a year. Props to you. You look like a classic metal head and play like one. I wish you the best of luck with further videos and thanks, again, for replying. ^^

  • Awesome, and nice sound dude!

  • @kevinparadisdrummer is that pastie rude ride?

  • Hi @CreepingDeath1111 ! Yeah it is the Paiste Rude Eclipse Ride 24"

  • @kevinparadisdrummer k sick thanks

  • what pedals do you use?? :)

  • @j1mp44n95 those are trick pedalsss

  • hi @j1mp44n95 ! It is a Trick Pro V1 big foot.

  • that ride is a fucking BEAST.

killer sounds coming out of those toms.

  • Also, I'm jealous of your ride cymbal. I'm happy with mine but I've always wanted to try the Eclipse Ride.

I have a 2002 22" Power Ride. Same one as Dave Lombardo.

  • HI @TrSYeTi ! Don't worry, it's no problem ! I am really not into hell-toe technique, because I don't use trigger, and I find that this technique don't give enough power, but I'm still working on my double bass drum technique !

  • Perfeeeecttt cover. love u .

  • haha piece of cake song and you can barely play it...ur shit........LOL JK dude great job this song is insane

  • this is good

  • Hey boss what size is that Paiste China on the far left? And what's that absolutely fantastic sounding cymbal on the far right side? (it appears to have some kind of pattern on it)

  • Hi @DucaleEfston ! it is a Paiste signature Reflector Thin China 18", and the cymbal on the right on this video is a Paiste signature flanger bell. Two insane cymbal !

  • @kevinparadisdrummer Yeah man they sound amazing, thanks for the reply!

  • at 2:38 both pedals are going but your left foot is on the hi hat? wtf

  • Hi @drumerdude5656 ! What's the problem ? If you you watched again the video, you can see that I play double bass drum just before that. You have to know that my bass drum pedal is a Trick Pro V1, and that it has a direct link. So when you play it once time, the pedal continue to move a little during about 10 s.

  • @kevinparadisdrummer I can vouch for this. Though I just sent my bigfoots in for repair =/ I have to go back to using my DW 2002's while they're gone D:

  • Hi @FUPAsteve ! What was the probleme with them ? I have some problem with the footboard, and I have to change them about every year.

  • @kevinparadisdrummer Every year?! =O

What happened was the left pedal started... scraping? Feel and sound. It was just slower and made an unhealthy noise. Plus both footboards were loose and clicked about. =( Also the linkage's U joint on the left side had some serious friction in it.

How long have you had yours? And why do you choose the middle setting on the pedals? I tend to use the speed setting with tight springs. Any advice to get faster? I can only hit 180-190 comfy.

  • @FUPAsteve

I have change my footboards something like 14 month ago, but I have to change them again ! In fact, the bearing of the heelblock moves a little, and I fear to broke the direct link if it get worthier ! But whatever, all bass drums pedal become damaged, and I'm pretty happy with the reliability of the Trick pedal.

  • I have choose the middle setting because I fear to damaged faster the direct link if i use the lower one (alway because of my footboard). I also tight the springs at maximum.

Alway keep in mind that it is great to work on short period (like one, two or four bar), and on long period (like 5min). Try to play double bass drum at 150 or 160 during 5min, and to play a lot of short period between 180 and 200. Also, don't forget to work your foot alone.

  • For example, you can play blast beat with your left foot at 170 during two minutes, and then, do the same thing with your right foot at 190.

Don't to forget to watch George Kollias DVD, there are some advice to keep in mind !

If some people ask me, I can also made a video with my own exercice

  • @kevinparadisdrummer I'd be interested in a video on technique from you for sure! =D

But I've heard about George Kollias' DVD and I'm tempted to order it. I need to get a practice pad for my pedals so I can practice at later times in the night - especially when I move into my dorm at college.

Hopefully when I get my pedals back, they'll be as good as new! Thank you for the advice and for your time. I love your videos, and I hope to see more.

  • @FUPAsteve Be careful in the choice of your bass drum practice pad ! I have the Gibraltar bass drum practice pad, but it made a lot of noise ! I think a will buy a cheap tom, converted it to a small bass drum, and put some mesh drumhead.... Don't worry about the video. Now, I'm recording Dead Talking Mind first album, and then I will do some video, maybe of Black Valor drum cover, and Nile drum cover.

  • It's 130 here and the intro is really scary

    But nice cover dude

  • Official cover man really enjoyed it, by the way creepy intro xD

  • buddy sick drummin nice skills i like i t the double kick sounds nice bro

  • Fucking awesome song and a really good cover as well.

  • Hey, man, I just wanted to stop by and say that you're great; you got that classic metal look, play the metal, and you seem nice aswell. Rock on keep blasting. ^^

  • great sound but needs mad practice on timing :)

  • Nice shot man! Good cover.

  • holy shit! Subscribed xD

  • how are you playing drum master ?

  • Is that a presonus firepod?

  • Hi @abcmetal ! No, it's a presonus firestudio with a presonus digimax D8.

  • Awesome job :) Subscribed!

  • well.............eh there were a few spots but still pretty good

  • You should cover Den of the Picquerist. This is amazing btw.

  • This drum cover is not only ballsy, but AMAZING! You are phenomenal dude!!!
