That is quite cool! It's as if our brain naturally "reverts" the inverted colors.. if you take a screencap (after doing the illusion) of the inverted image & "revert" it yourself (in any pic editor, I used MS Paint), you can see how colorful the original really is! XD

@SuperBrooski the picture does change after 27 seconds, but the blue picture is preparing your eyes for the black and white picture. once your eyes adapt to the blue, it suddenly changes the picture to black and white, but it appears to be in color for a few seconds. stare at a green piece of paper and then look at a white piece of paper, and the white paper will have a reddish hue. it's the same idea.

I wouldn't exactly call this an optical illusion. There have been experiments in the past focusing on a virtual approach to overlapping different images. The idea was to put one image in front of one eye and another for the other eye. Moments later, the animal's brain homogenized the two images. Regardless, thank you for sharing this video.

you guys are all wrong. It is a phenomenon called Opponent Process Theory. The first picture activates certain cones very heavily and they inhibit the other cones. When the image switches, the cones that were activated for that long period of time are unable to inhibit the "opposite color" cones, and they perceive the opposite colors for just a second, until the original cones are able to reset themselves. Gotta love sensation and perception physiology.

dude.. cool down! it's obviously u didn't noticed the optical illusion, but that's your problem, no reason to be rude; i will spend some of my precious youtube time to explain it to u: the clip contais teh negative of a color picture and the black & white version of the same original picture, when staring to a fixed reference (the center dot for example) and switching fast to the b&w version, your brain/eyes will play a trick on you and make u see what apears to be the colored original image. ;)
