It does make a valid point whether you want to agree with it or not. "Gay" has become a part of our language so a lot of people don't see it as a problem. Would it be better if they substituted the word "gay" with "faggot"? Seems to be a more offensive word people cringe at. I love how homosexuals continue to associate themselves with the word gay, even tho the meaning has completely evolved from what i meant 40 or so years before.

The word didn't even mean homosexual before, so why are they clinging to it so hard? Do they want to be called gay? It used to be considered bad to even mention the word, even if you were "gay" yourself. Homosexuals used to fight to be called homosexual and not gay. Now they're clinging to it hard. It makes no sense to me.

The definition of "gay" changed a long time ago- it used to mean happy. Because it is now used to reference a person's sexual orientation, using the same word to mean "stupid" or to "pick on" someone is in fact insulting and in effect expresses that you believe gay people are stupid. There are plenty of words in the English language to express yourself with- use something else.

so an strange old woman comes up to them and says "That's so Emma and Julia." Wow. I really can't take this seriously. Its like saying thats so adcouncil. Also telling people to knock it off is not gonna help dude. saying "thats so gay." is not insulting. for example

"Are you grounded?" "Yeah." "Thats so gay." implying that being grounded is stupid.

"Your clothes are ugly, you're so gay!" implying that they are picking on someone.

I think a legitimate point to consider that the definition of 'gay' is changing, and that it doesn't refer to homosexuals anymore. It's more of just a general derogatory term applied to anyone who's stupid nowadays. The homosexual connotation is rarely, or almost never intended nowadays. There are other words that are far more offensive now.

It's really not as severe as they make of it. Emma and Julia are names and people with identities while being gay is a sexual orientation with an often stereotyped and generalized lifestyle that is considered by some wrong. Two girls cannot be considered wrong at all without it implying something derogatory like they are sluts at parties or something. 1 is entirely more impersonal than the other, &while I know this isjustametaphor, metaphorsusually havetomake fair,logical ensewhilethisdoesn't.

@xxMirokuJrxx Isn't it more ignorant and disrespectful to use personal insults like they do in this ad? When I said that is so gay, I don't mean being a gay person is bad, but the idea to me is seen as bad therefore I use it to describe how bad I think about something.

By your logic we should stop using the words bad, because it insults people who are presumed bad asses or bad people.

Something will offend somebody, people just need to stop being so sensitive.
