Do you know where to find parts for one of these? I have an '84 that needs an expansion chamber and a set of tires. can you reccomend a good distributor?
If thry're running right 1 or 2 kicks to fire it up , if you mean compression wise there very easy as you can see in the video i'm kicking it over with sneakers on , if i tried that with my tecate t3 i
d be limping around the rest of the day . compared to a 200 there is no comparison ,However you'll loose the reliability of the 200 motor , those motors are bullet proof and run forever, also great for mudding
ok i tried kicking over a yz250 and it was an absolute bitch of a thing to kick i could hardly move the kick start at all. So by saying there is no comparison with the 200 motor(i take it u mean a honda 200 4 stroke) are you saying the 200 is easier or harder. My 200 is a pull start and has a decent bit of compression but is still easy for me but i probably prefer kickstart overall
I wasn't referring to compression i was referring to speed power and paformance of a 250r compared to a 200s there is no comparison . the 200s is fun to putt around on but the arm ripping feeling you get when giving a 250r a handful of throttle theres nothing like that feeling that goes for pingers in general not just 250r's soory for the confusion , it only allows 500 charaters per post it deletes some of what i typed i guess . i know my tecate is the same way a total bitch to kick over
for wahtever reason the 250r's are easy i have a 82 84 85 86 ATC 250r's and all of them are easy and all have good compression 175 on the 82 and 84 air coolers and 180 to 190 on the water pumpers your200 is a hell of a lot harder to pull start then the 250r
is to kick for sure . is your compression release working on your 200 ? that helps allot if there working right
Thanks but i don't want to sell it its part of my collection it took a long time to find a 82 R in this condition i plan to keep it for a very long time
nice 250r man. i love three wheeler. there so oldskool and i like that, being different. i dont ride three wheeler enough sadly :( but thats about to change soon hopfully :)
i got an 83 with a dg exhaust and two spare motors. the one on the bike is 30 over. one is 60 over. and one is either 70 or 80 over. all that for $1500.
Thats soumds like a good much better then $1700 if its got good spark and compressio it will fire up . it it isn't starting it needs the carb removed cleaned and adjusted and also check that it is not sucking air. that could keep it from starting as well
i found a a 1983 honda atc 250r,it needs a little work,it ran when the guy parked it in nov.,but he tried to start it now and cant get it to fire, hes guessing it is just because it is so cold out,it has good compression and spark, the rear caliper will need to be replace,it drags, open to trade,he wants it gone soon. its 600 dollars and near by. is this a good deal???
I would say that's a bit to much for a 1st generation 81/82 250R i think allot depends on where a person lives , some places these machines are very hard to find so the price is high ,this 250R i paid $500.00 for in the condition you see , done nothing to it
