@coltsblackgirl I started singing in elementary school and my parents were musical theater actors but chose a family instead of going to NYC. I started in choir in 4th grade, started school plays in 3rd grade, and started doing musical theater outside of school at age 11. I started voice lessons in high school doing both musical theater and classical. I went to SHSU and got my BFA in Musical Theater where I started learning more contemporary style of singing. Now I'm in NYC learning all I can :)
