@paulsenification when I'm really old and sick, I'll be able to blame the Navy! Not really all that high powered, and we were rarely on the surface. Concentrated radiation on a single point is bad, but when it's spinning it doesn't do much harm. I feel more in danger working next to cell phone towers or driving under radio station towers or living under power lines then standing next to radar...
I wonder how that radar affects his brain. Does the radar fry the brain like a microwave. I would think being that close to a radar can not be that healthy for the brain cells.
Anyone on the Helena know now retired MMCS(SS) Kroll or MM1(SS) Brooks? Ive sailed with them on the Olympia.

@BardockFan2213 Not often enough! Most boats when operational are about 50/50

well, you can hear an interference when the cam crosses the horizontal axis of the antenna... btw. hanging around there looks like riding the bullet.

@paulsenification lol, being duct taped to an air search radar, now that might be pretty hazardous to your health!

This is awesome. Actual on-board submarine footage is so rare. Thanks for sharing what the real top-of-the-sail view looks like.

Just because the radar mast turning doesn't mean it is emitting any energy.

Is that rotating radar emitter hazardous to those standing next to it?

Lol this is an attack submarine! Those people lucky that they are not dead due to a torpedo attack! Why would they worry about the radars lul
