Man I loved 2097 as a kid. Having watched real steel recently brought back fond memories and made me want to play it again. I only found out about this sequel when I tried searching for a download link for the original one. How does it compare? Quite disappointing that not many people seem to like it but I am willing to give it a go (no real steel pun intended).

@Disinf3ctant Real Steel is a GREAT movie! The title had me fooled into thinking it would just be a CG-inflated action movie...which it was, but it came with a phenomenal story as well.

@MEGAXSTU It was definitely rather clunky, but I have seen some pretty impressive custom combos on YouTube. You can REALLY rip into them if you get familiar enough with the controls and response of the robots.

@Cyric1983 - The original's* creator, Rob Elam, has been asked by fans several times to bring it to port it even to online marketplaces like PSN and XBL but he always refuses. *There was another unofficial release called One Must Fall (minus the 2097) that he created and released prior to 2097, that was just two humans fighting each other, like it was an alpha or beta release.

it's not as bad a game as a lot of people think. It was a fair attempt at a sequel but its lack of polish or even completion made it out to be a rather anemic game.

This game should have been kept in the side view arena mode like the first one and it would have been much better than it is in this forum.

Making a fighting game in third person view like this is just stupid. At least they should have made a story to it and give it story driven maps instead of arenas and put you through a quest with bosses and rpg features...

@kinmanyuen It's the "crowd" element, it's a switchable feature. They'll cheer you the better you do and they'll thumb you down when you're sucking it (you also will be rewarded or punished accordingly). It can be very beneficial in the hands of either crafty or skilled players and it also adds an element to the gameplay when you multiplayer versus other humans.

The original OMF:2097 was made by three people on a thight budget. I dunno, the problem with Battlefields is just that it wasn't OMF. But I guess the idea was good.

@sputnikpanicpuppet Rob Elam practically made OMF2097 all by himself. However, OMF:BG is a much bigger an undertaking. Mostly due to the online nature, physics and 3D. This has a tendency to overblow a project's requirements of man-power and code-lines.

You have to double-tap the walk key. The Jaguar Leap can also be performed by double-tapping the left key, or right key, and then high-punch. It does an immediate 90-degree turn. Here're the moves I know for the Jaguar:

Jaguar Leap == T, T, HP or L, L, HP or R, R, HP

Concussion Missile == B, T, HP

Radiation Attack == B, T, HK

When you have 1 full energy charge, you can do them by pressing HP+LP or HK+LK at the same time, depending on the move.
