  • ALSO I HAD THIS GAME!!! you should upload it when you get caught from the ghost so my kids can see what it was like...Awesome, brought back memories!!

  • The first "FPS" I ever played! Loved it! :D

  • This was the game that made me wish I had a 6128 instead of a 464.

For the uninitiated, the 6128 had twice the 464's memory, (mostly-irrelevant) and - here's the crucial bit - a diskette drive, instead of the tape drive on the 464. Why does it matter? Because the tapes were REALLY GODDAMN SLOW to load from.

Sultan's Maze took 17 minutes to load from tape, when it decided it was going to load at all. And you couldn't really just walk away and do something else, because it would error a LOT.

  • Was this game written in BASIC? It is SO slow, even for a CPC.

  • I modified the game to earn 10 points of life each time I passed through a wall, and 25 points of life each time I moved...So, the game was easier.

Well, 17 mins if everything was fine...It was very hard when the game was about to load and an error happened...grfxxxxx !!!!!

  • I cant believe this game took 17 mins to load from tape :S Those were the days :)

  • Go south, jump over the hedge get out of the maze and your home free.

Would have been cool to see the ghost again.

  • the noise the ghost made made me shit myself!

  • i remember it took ages to load.

just for it to crash a few minutes in to it.

  • i named my first dog after this game, his name was sultan though im certain now my dad only agreed because of the album sultans of swing but it brings back lots of great memories

  • @thebuft nice story man :)

  • I think the most jewels I ever made it out with was...1.

  • lol one of the free games, wasnt good then, and sure aint now :p gimme roland on the ropes, oh mummy or fruit machine any day ;)

  • There was a beep at the end of each wall draw and an alert when the ghost was close by. It was a rather frustrating game to play.

  • Look at those shaders

  • (Gurliewurlie swears under her breath) I cannot believe we had such cheesey games. I spent days and day on this. I wish I was born 10 years later!!!

  • and the other version:

The Sultan of Baghdad visited Hapton Court palace in the 14th century. He was robbed by highwaymen, and his bodygard chased these thieves into Hampton Court maze. As the thieves ran, they dropped their treasure throughout the maze, until eventually the bodyguard caught them and a fight ensued. The bodygaurd was killed, and his ghost now roams the maze.

  • i remember the plot to this game ;

Six rubies belonging to the Sultan of Baghdad are hidden inside Hampton Court maze. However, the ghost of the Sultan's bodyguard still roams the maze and is waiting to catch any intruders! Your task is to collect all six of these rubies

  • Sucked that you ended up dropping the jewels when you got tired. Why bother with that sort of thing?

  • Programmed in Locomotive Basic no less.

  • I used to be scared playing this game lol

  • @DeadFishUK lmao me too xD

  • @DeadFishUK haha this game was way to tense for me back in the day lol

  • this game took 17 minutes to load, was the longest loading of all the free games and probably the worst.

  • I remember this, on screen torture at its finest! its the constant wall generation that i find disorientating and annoying :P

  • That pesky ghost!

  • This was one of about 12 games that my Brother got in a package when he got a 464 for Christmas. 1984/1985.

  • this game was my fave amstrad game..wish i never got rid of my old amstrad now :'(

  • Ha, ha! what a memories...this is the grandfather of Quake.

  • interesting 3D-nes, but you have to wait for the computer to color the walls...not good.

  • he vuelto a tener 4 años :D

  • Played this the other week (it was the full version with the package) I'm sure this could have been programmed to be far faster than it is, it's 4Mhz dammit!

  • Do U remember Castle Master?

  • I remember the demo tape of Sultan's Maze was offered with the cpc464 package... It was in 1984 :(
