To the haters, and the unimpressed: there's reason Bozzio got invited to solo at NAMM. Not an easy invite, btw. Music is art--there are no wrong opinions, but showing disrespect merely displays your own pettiness.
A hard lesson I was FORCED to learn is that playing to empress my peers is fastest way to be ignored. This solo made me want to dance in my chair. He captivated them all never broke a sweat. I think we musicians forget that ultimately, what we do is not a contest. Its an art and that solo was so expressive! As a guitarist I feel for drummers because we depend on them to be perfect in so many ways. Terry does that and dances across the top and paints a picture. Very impressive 2 the right people.
What Terry Bozzio does is what makes him unique, he has such a weird rhythm and talent, he plays the drums like a giant piano. I don't get why people expect when they see his set he's going to bust some huge solo, its all about him expressing himself and thats what he can do on that beast
Terry is a talented drummer.. it just is ashame that what he is trying to accomplish is hard to grasp by alot of people... so it just comes off as being boring... I admit I get bored watching these kinds of solos also....I want to hear some groove, some head bouncing rhythm... at least some of the time.... he should mix it up more... if he wants to translate his art to a more diverse range of listeners.... although maybe hes perfectly happy appealing to a select crowd...
It´s music and no one own it!! You´re free to do whatever you want. For those who don´t like it, don´t hate just move on to what you like and keep it positive.
@St1korn Have you heard the man talk about his drumming to know about his ego? Did Terry say anywhere in this video that he thought this demo was particularly amazing? As far as I can tell the uploader has been the only one to declare their opinion on the matter. That is not indicative of Terry Bozzio's view on it; there are no grounds for attacking his ego.
terry bozzio - the drummer who sounds like he´s in a drum shop trying out new gear every time he sits behind the drums...

you can tell a drummers playing is really not that interesting when half of the people in a thread has to defend the drummers "diefferent" approach.

IMO, anyone who can survive being in Zappa's band deserves to do whatever the fuck they want.

Fantastic solo,and melodic

Melodic? I'm love to hear someone sing the melody. Anyone? No one? Didn't think so. Fantastic drumming, though.
AlexNiedt 1 month ago
@AlexNiedt It's melodic, because his drums are tuned to special noets on a chromatic scale.
DrummerboiJack 1 month ago
@DrummerboiJack That doesn't make it melodic. That makes it tonal.

@AlexNiedt Ahh really? Then i must be wrong. My bad xD
