This video doesn't do it justice at all. Seeing it run at these settings in person is fucking unbelievable. Youtube compression just kills it. My cousin said the same thing when he saw Crysis run at my house for the first time. He said that the videos just don't prepare you for how it really looks when it's running realtime in front of you. I think the only video that could, is an untouched FRAPS video that hasn't been compressed yet, but those are huge.
You can upload videos with a lot of blank space at the end of them to limit compression effects. Maybe you've picked up on this by now, but if you haven't, try it.

Resort is a great map,but I feel that there are some major flaws, not due directly to the creator,but to the way the CryEngine 2 is designed.Non-Tropical maps just look odd, probably due to all the shaders being written for use in tropical maps. Notice how the terrain gets a weird neon green look to it?Also, most ToD (Time of Day) files seem to have been written with tropical maps in mind, so lighting just seems out of place, especially during sunsets

PC is the ideal system, especially fps and rts games. But, piracy is the reason consoles have a bigger market, it's easier to pirate PC games. It's also easier to produce console games because they can utilize the engine to work just enough to satisfy the system, whereas PC's range in quality so the game much be richer in graphics to appeal to high end gamers.
Nice set up, I wish I could afford to buy a 5870 and then still be thinking of buying a 5970 a month later. Wait for Fermi cards to be released first though - as you have enough power for any game right now maxed out. Wait for some price wars to kick in ;) What monitor you using?
Just completed this map, and I loved it. Absolutely amazing. But at the end, it just puts me on the plateau. So does that mean it doesn't start again or anything? Or do I just go and explore the place now? I want to go and look for all the cool waterfalls and the cave system in the mountain.

you can always make it look as good as another card but it's all about the fps. You might be able to max crysis on a 5850 but only be able to get 20-30 fps when you could get say 40-50 on a 5870. These aren't the actual numbers but I'm just using it as an example

it doesnt matter, consoles is controlling games market, whats mean consoles controlling graphics progress in games :), but its not important, GAMES is most important thing, which on pc sucks hard :) pc has few exclusive games, consoles has million exclusive games :D
I disagree. PC games have the major advantage - a mouse and keyboard. Which for FPS and especially RTS games is a major advantage in control - which is evidenced by consoles usually presenting auto aim levels. Fighting games e.g. Tekken are better on consoles. Racing games all change with a Logitech G25. PC gaming communities are also way more mature and helpful online, PC's always have better control with customisability for mods, graphics, even controls. Few exclusives, but rape everytime :)
i dont know about controls, cause controlling games with joysticks its more easier than with keyboard, like basketball or football games, with xbox 360 and ps3 joysticks its easy to play fps just need few hours to used it :) whats the point from few good exclusive on pc with mods and other thing, than you cant play gran turismo series, god of war, uncharted, halo and much more :) without exclusives pc cant offer much in gaming, besides mmorpg's and few good fps :)
I'll give you sports games, not that I like them too much :P apart from the odd BMX games. FPS however, in consoles all you get is people rotating on their axis unlike a mouse which gives you instant 100% control to the very pixel. Halo, turismo series are alright. But then there's Grid which pounds it into the ground available on all platforms. I dont believe exclusives make a platform, it's how well platforms run games. PC's arguably have 1000's of exclusives with modding adding large hours
Of game play and custumisability and over all control of your game play. Even small areas to improve for instance the ability to download more vehicles, high definition skins so forth. Then stratagy games just cant be played fast enough on a controller no matter how hard they attempt to compress the controls. However, I do see where your coming from and I respect your choices, I have a 360 myself. But even starting at the communities PC gaming is more controlled, larger, matured etc.
Besides, a lot of exclusives are ported by third parties to PC platforms :P. But anyways, to each his own. Both platforms must be doing something right at the end of the day if they have such a massive gaming community for each.

i might build a rig with this processor and video card. ill play at 1920x1080 but this is with 8x anti aliasing and maxed out and its still awsome! Is is playable or does it feel a little laggy?
The higher the GB of the graphics card, the better it will work on 1920x1080 and above res. Crossfiring a 5870 and 5970, don't know, I'll have to ask around. :)
Ok. About the crossfire thing. It should work because it got the same GOU's as the 5870, just a slower version. So the 5870 will be downclocked to the 5970. Just what I think, but have no idea. ;)

If you have money, go for the i7, it's also pretty simple to overclock. You can also easily find a video on how to do it, just search "overclock i7 920 4GHz".
I can tell you this I have that processor with a radeon 5770 and it can run crysis max settings if you really wanna future proof get a 5870 or wait a while for the 9750 I think it's called

Well for game play i dont know havent played Uncharted 2 but i have seen gameplay and i have Crysis as well and like or not uncharted is not better sorry.

Ok Zourbud , before you get all knowing there, i am not a fan boy ,i had a PS2 ,PS3 and went with PC because like veipper says it has a shit load more ability then any console.THATS why i say Crysis IS better.Uncharted 2 is in a catagory with out Crysis ,what you think Crysis is gonna be compared to ever other game out there forever,it already got its awards.see thats why there is a different game each year ok.Crytek them self have said the consoles cant do Crysis because of big limitations.

it doesnt matter, consoles is controlling games market, whats mean consoles controlling graphics progress in games :), but its not important, GAMES is most important thing, which on pc sucks hard :) pc has few exclusive games, consoles has million exclusive games :D

I disagree. PC games have the major advantage - a mouse and keyboard. Which for FPS and especially RTS games is a major advantage in control - which is evidenced by consoles usually presenting auto aim levels. Fighting games e.g. Tekken are better on consoles. Racing games all change with a Logitech G25. PC gaming communities are also way more mature and helpful online, PC's always have better control with customisability for mods, graphics, even controls. Few exclusives, but rape everytime :)

i dont know about controls, cause controlling games with joysticks its more easier than with keyboard, like basketball or football games, with xbox 360 and ps3 joysticks its easy to play fps just need few hours to used it :) whats the point from few good exclusive on pc with mods and other thing, than you cant play gran turismo series, god of war, uncharted, halo and much more :) without exclusives pc cant offer much in gaming, besides mmorpg's and few good fps :)

I'll give you sports games, not that I like them too much :P apart from the odd BMX games. FPS however, in consoles all you get is people rotating on their axis unlike a mouse which gives you instant 100% control to the very pixel. Halo, turismo series are alright. But then there's Grid which pounds it into the ground available on all platforms. I dont believe exclusives make a platform, it's how well platforms run games. PC's arguably have 1000's of exclusives with modding adding large hours

Of game play and custumisability and over all control of your game play. Even small areas to improve for instance the ability to download more vehicles, high definition skins so forth. Then stratagy games just cant be played fast enough on a controller no matter how hard they attempt to compress the controls. However, I do see where your coming from and I respect your choices, I have a 360 myself. But even starting at the communities PC gaming is more controlled, larger, matured etc.

Besides, a lot of exclusives are ported by third parties to PC platforms :P. But anyways, to each his own. Both platforms must be doing something right at the end of the day if they have such a massive gaming community for each.

i might build a rig with this processor and video card. ill play at 1920x1080 but this is with 8x anti aliasing and maxed out and its still awsome! Is is playable or does it feel a little laggy?

It's playable, but you should wait a bit for the i9 to come out, it'll be pretty good. I believe it'll come out around the 2nd quarter of 2010.

As said in the description: 27-48, but if you have the money go for the 5970, the 2GB it provides will be useful at a 1920x1080 res.

The higher the GB of the graphics card, the better it will work on 1920x1080 and above res. Crossfiring a 5870 and 5970, don't know, I'll have to ask around. :)

Ok. About the crossfire thing. It should work because it got the same GOU's as the 5870, just a slower version. So the 5870 will be downclocked to the 5970. Just what I think, but have no idea. ;)

If you have money, go for the i7, it's also pretty simple to overclock. You can also easily find a video on how to do it, just search "overclock i7 920 4GHz".
