  • They really did this in 09 but their YouTube channel was shutdown so now they have re upload everything !

  • Did y'all really shoot that in 09

  • ... you forgot the difference between german milliarde and us billion and so on ... ;)

  • In Trinidad we use the both sevens nothing new to me

  • yeah it's funny to make those comparisons. cant get over how cute Jim is btw. and I totally get Alex's little 'mistakes' cause they happen to me as well (the little 'oder' for example hehe). very good job guys!!!

  • I wonder how many americans need to learn german language.

    In word and write. =)

  • Ja wir sagen 1500

  • Actually neither ',' nor '.' is global standard (e.g. in science) as delimiter after every third digit.

Instead you should use a small whitespace (about 1/3 to 1/2 of the length of a regular whitespace) or, if you really need a character, use the '-char.

So you can use '.' and/or ',' as delimiter for the decimal part, just as you like it.

  • Ah one thing.

    @4:00

    Not €700,52 !!! -> 700,52€ ;)

German write it in the order they say it. [Number -> Currency]

    and...

    12 AM = 0 Uhr

    12 PM = 24 Uhr

  • I think the German date logic.

    Day < Month < Year

It is clear that a meaningful sequence. ^ ^

  • "Are we gonna die after the video?"

    "Most likely :)"

  • 2-13-09? wtf!

  • Now what's up with this billion/Milliarde and Billion/trillion stuff?

  • in norway we use the german numbers too

  • @alexbleks In Germany we use the Norwegian numbers too.

  • I understand that the US dates are totally screwed up. Actually, the best way should be YYYY/MM/DD. It's much easier to file from large to small. (Like nesting on a website). The Japanese, Korean, and Chinese have got that one right. But the Euro money thing is totally illogical. Mathematically and universally, something after a decimal is the tenths (1/10), hundredths (1/100), etc of 1.0. Why would you put a comma instead? The US visual aid is also logical as it acts like a "breathing space."

  • @caohanlu What's illogical about using a comma instead of a dot? It's the same logic but just with switched separators. So why is it all of the sudden illogical? Btw. Commas also provide "breathing space".

  • @TheLotRatF Do people really use 3,14159 instead of 3.14159...? As I've stated before, money = math. And in math, everyone uses decimals to separate tenths (dimes - or whatever they call it in Germany), hundredths (cents), etc. No elementary student writes 1/4 = 0,25. And yes: as I've also stated below, commas do provide breathing space. Thanks for reinforcing that.

  • @caohanlu Yes, everytime an American uses a dot in math as separator, we use the comma. German elementary students write 1/4 = 0,25. It's exactly the same thing as in the US, just with switched separators ;-)

  • @TheLotRatF That's interesting,

Maybe they should switch periods and commas in a sentence too. then everything would make sense, Or maybe they already do that, (!?)

  • @caohanlu Now you are confusing grammar with math (maybe a visit in elementary school wouldn't hurt you). Outside of math periods and commas have the same purpose in Germany as in th US.

I still don't understand your problem with that. Americans mix up a lot of things (temperature in Fahrenheit, distances in inches, foot and miles, weight in ounces and pounds) and I don't complain. But if another country switches separators in math...that's too much! That's illogical!

  • @TheLotRatF I'm clearly not defending the US's measurement systems. Why so defensive? I was just merely joking about the fact that if they switch commas and period for numbers, they should do that for the whole package. And as you can tell from my previous comments, I can write no worse than you can. So if I were to visit an elementary school, why don't you come along with me? ^ ^

  • Oh, I remember all the confusion I caused in my maths class in the U.S.^^ I learned the different numbers pretty quickly though.

The 12 am/12 pm rule makes absolutely no sense to me. I learned it the other way around and that seems much more logical to me.

  • no we DONT say 15000 h we say its fünfzehn uhr ;D

  • I was taught that Noon is 12 AM, 12:01 is PM (afternoon). Midnight is 12 PM, 12:01 is AM (very early morning). LOL

  • @patteel ya lol i thought AM (at morning) and pm (past midday) =P

  • I remember that when I first learned to write dates in 1st grade I was very confused because the month came before the day. It didn't make sense to me becauseIi figured it should go smallest to biggest time measurement. Th day/month/year way makes much more sense in my opinion.

  • length, time, date, temperature... it's all weird in the US ;/

  • @75426168 haha yeah it kind of is, I wish that we would use the same measurements etc. that the rest of the world uses so there would be no confusion.

  • All those Things here in Brazil are just like in Germany

  • oh alex... how long have u been away that u dont even know anymore that we don´t say "...fünfzehnhundert, sechzehnhundert..."? :P

  • o=. At 3:11 the little line on the '1' that makes it look like a '7' disappears!!

  • I totally got confused by the dates a few months ago!! It was a Japanese show I was liek O_o.

  • In the U.S. Military they go Day/Month/Year as well.

  • 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 9 0 the keyboard does not lie.^^

  • Love your videos! Come back! :)

  • this is so true... the 1s often have two equally long lines!

  • my 7's look like the german 7s, and my 1s look like the german 1's but with a little horizontal dash on the bottom. and i use /'s for dates like 1/22/12 :)

  • Yes in the military in germany you say "fünzehnhundert" instead of "15 Uhr"

  • @flaming0moe Haha! Da hast du recht!

  • i think i saw this episode somewhere .. *thinking*

  • 2009?

  • To throw it in the mix, British use a mix of the both haha i.e German day, month, year but the dots, dashes etc also different! Got excited thinking this was a new video aw daaamn

  • 13.2.2009? wtf!

  • @SoccerUpdater day month year, you start with the smallest. makes sence, doesn't it? i mean, first the month? middle-smallest-highest??? thats what i would call a WTF moment!

  • @HolgerLovesMusic thats not what i meant... i just wondered why the video is so old and they didnt uploaded it before..

  • @SoccerUpdater They did, but maybe Youtube deleted it. I've seen "Numbers" before ;)

  • You're alive!

  • FREEEEEEUUUUU!!!

  • you guys should make a video comparing German schools and US schools or Stereotypes

  • what's with €700,-

  • Good work, guys. Thanks.

  • this was in 2009? damn

  • I wanna see you guys talk about the news! :D

  • great video!

  • yes it is a common use for german soldiers to say 'fünfzehnhundert'

  • I always write the € in front of the amount too. I never noticed when I changed doing that, but I guess it's just like fashion

  • oh ok... you didn't die..

    come back!!!!

  • I should actually watch the video and description before making such comments.

  • Looks like an old video, they haven't aged at all.

  • @Gnometower it is an old video :D

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!! a new video. I just love your videos :)

    Keep up the good work!

  • it's so nice that you uploaded a new video :)

can you please do another video about relationships or dating? something with more details maybe.. thank you :D

  • Nice i hope you make some new ones

  • Euro is treated like a unit. That means that it should be 700€ and not €700.

  • @sugarwarlock When the price is listed on an item here in southern Germany, such as on a restaurant menu, it very common for it to be listed as €7,00. So....your mileage may vary ;-)

  • @bkc1965 Really? I've never seen this.

  • @sugarwarlock look at Otto.de they have their items priced with the € before the number. I looked at the daily lunch menu (on a blackboard written with chalk) yesterday at one of our local restaurants. It appeared that two different people had written items on it, some prices had it before and others had it after. It is interesting how things change over time....

  • @bkc1965 So some people just copy the US version?

  • I never got why Americans write the month before the day. It's confusing.

  • @Charization haha I know I ask myself that a lot too. It looks weird written out but we when we talk we say "its January 22nd", so maybe that is why we write it like that? lol I really don't know

  • make a Germany vs USA - ghost storys

  • geil endlich wieder :D

  • I hear that the USA is one of the only countries that tells time like we do, most other countries use what we call military time.

  • I use the American 1 and 9 but I use the German 7. lol Nice to see a new video :)

  • Wait, how is midnight 12 AM? That'd mean that they count 12 AM (midnight), 1 AM, 2 AM...11 AM, 12 PM ? That doesn't make much sense to me.

  • the american 9 looks like a q to me

  • yeeeeeeeeeeees

  • beste endlich neue folge wooohoooo

  • Are you guys sponsored by Diet Coke or something? It's in every one of the videos.

  • This video is three years old...

  • @MercenarySlick heul doch
